Default Colt Commander....

Always favored Colt Commanders.
Picked up this NIB lightweight last weekend.
Shot it yesterday. Nary a hic-cup.
I switched out the grips.
Normally stay away from the "new" guns but
have to admit this one is growing on me.

I have always had a thing for the Commander series, it is one of my favorite carry guns.

Your new Colt is very nice. Did the change the cocking serrations?

I like the Commander length too. Picked up this Colt Wiley Clapp CCO a little more than a year ago. Commander length slide and officer length grip. Nice gun. Super reliable. However, I prefer a double action revolver.

I've had this old thing for years and haven't shot it in a long time. The short grip safety really promotes hammer bite Colt Commander....Colt Commander....

New ones I shoot, old ones I keep.
Love the Colt Commander, this one all steel XSE,
couple of years old, and it shoots like a dream
Obviously a grip change.

Bring out your commanders!

Mine, next to its 100 year old brother.

I know you boys like these newer Commanders, but for me, I'll buy the first old satin nickel Combat Commander that I find in really good shape. I had one 40+ years ago as a duty gun, and wanted one ever since. It was a great duty piece, and I've missed it dearly for those 40+ years. I love them old guns.............

I'm down to only one Commander at the moment, a 1974 vintage satin nickel version. My old partner sold it to me before he retired. Really shoots great. I'd like to get another Commander, maybe a .38 Super.

I have one in .38 Super (not a lightweight) great gun to shoot in that caliber. Thinking about the Ruger LW Commander in 9mm.

Commanders or Combat Commanders are my favorite semi-auto bar none... My first one was a 70s vintage Combat Commander in .45 with the satin nickel finish. Have carried a Commander in .38 Super daily since 1980...

90s vintage stainless with BoMar sights firing the Marine Corps M92 qualifier...

.38 Super TALO Commander with extra barrels in 9mm and 9x23 Winchester...

1951 Super...hard chrome...ivory...

All blacked out Combat Commander in .38 Super...

1956 Super...hard chrome frame...BoMar sights...

Daily carry gun from 1980-2007...

I recently picked up this new steel version.
I finally had to replace my satin nickle one that was stolen in the late 70's.
Yeah, I know, what the heck took me so long!

I never got that with mine. I have always believed the hammer bite issue was solved by the Commander style or ring hammer and there was no need for that big, swooping side-gouging shark fin. Rant off.

Beautiful gun, by the way.

I took this pic years ago for a thread on another forum that asked how close we usually were to our HD gun.

It's the "Enhanced" model, with the swoopy slide serrations, top rib, beavertail grip safety, and relieved trigger guard. I've since added a CTC Lightguard as well, which kinda obliterated the comfy trigger guard relief. The front strap isn't stippled, that's skateboard tape, or wing walk tape for the macho guys.

I got it new around 1990, IIRC. I had to drift the rear sight so far to center the groups that the sight was hanging out of it's groove. Installed a match bushing, which didn't shrink the groups any but at least brought the rear sight back to center.

I've since upgraded the mouse, too.

In the early to mid 80's I was in my 1911 phase........... the last two were Commanders........a lighweight and a Stainless.......best of the breed IMO

I got a W German Sig 220 for carry and somehow the Colts got traded away ......probably for some nice Smith Revolvers........ or Browning Hi-Powers.

Did pick up an ever so lightly used Sig C3 CCO several years ago.......perfect 1911 blend IMHO for Concealed Carry....... an Officers Frame ( still 7+1) and Commander's slide...

Carried a MK IV series 80 Combat Commander in satin nickel back in the 80's but never quite warmed up to that satin nickel finish,
Traded it in the early 90's for a 14 shot 9mm S&W Model 59 in polished nickel instead which became my Miami gun (Pronounced "Mi-Jahmi" ).
