Default CA Bulldog.44 Grips Change

Today I added my last grip change to my CA Bulldog .44 SPL. I put some Chater Arms Finger Groove Super Rosewood Checkered on this one.

I put some Herrett's on mine when I had== recoil FELT like a LOT less to me. Went from uncomfortable to very pleasant. They were the checkered "banana" style.

On mine Jimmy, the only complaint I had was that the recoil rapped against the knuckle of my shooting hand's thumb. Fairly uncomfortable and after 15 rounds I had had enough. That was with shooting 200 grain factory lead cowboy loads. I would get over that, quickly, in a self-defense situation I believe.

I put the wood "boot" grips on mine for carry. Kinda an equivalent of of magna's for the Charter Arms. Then shot some 240gr cast swc @ 1000 fps. Recoil was not fun, but worried more about the gun coming apart. Funny part was you could feel the gun twist from torque generated by bullet hitting the rifling.

Good thing several styles of grips available for CA because we all have choices that work best for us. I like the Pachmayr Compac grips on my Bulldog but they are heavy.

My preference is Herrett Shooting Ace grips. Also prefer them on J-frames.

I shot my Bulldog with factory grips today. Not painful but not ideal either. 20 rounds was plenty. I would like to try some Herretts.

My 2nd choice is the Pachmayr Compac...but like I mentioned two post up from this one they are heavy and add considerably to the gun's weight.

Plus my wife several times told me " your shirt (or coat) is riding up and sticking on your gun."
