Default Restoring Stag Handles on Knives/Guns

I just finished refurbishing some stag handles on a knife, and I thought I'd pass this tip along.

I have a knife that has stag handles and the stag was really dried out - to the point which I feared it might crack. I use (clear) mineral oil on my stag handles. It won't turn rancid or harm the stag (at least, it has never harmed mine). It seems to work very well in refurbishing old, dry stag. I apply the mineral oil with a Q-tip. You can buy it at the drugstore.

(I have also heard of people using lanolin wax, but have never tried it).

Thanks. I will try it!
I heard that the lanolin crowd are mostly Sheepherders.
They just rub their knife handle across the top of a woolie bugger.

I just tried it on my old Sears Knife.
My knife is so old it's stamped Craftsman.

Lanolin (from Latin lāna, 'wool', and oleum, 'oil'), also called wool wax or wool grease, is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals. Lanolin used by humans comes from domestic sheep breeds that are raised specifically for their wool.

I often fish for trout with a wooly bugger, but it seems to have no lanolin or any positive effect on my stag grips.
