Default WWII P-38 rig - and a VZ 24 rifle

Picked this up last week end thanks to a friend on the Forum here. It's from early 1944 and is in a nice hard shell 1943 holster.

Also picked up this 1937 VZ 24 that was shipped to the Japanese Navy. It still has part of the Japanese "Kanji" painting on the stock. It is an 8mm.

That's a nice looking p-38, but I love that VZ-24!

Love that p-38.. I don't guess I was familiar with the VZ 24. That might me a good alternative to the k98 I've been wanting.

This section of the forum is becoming increasingly disappointing. Quality stuff like this sinks without a trace, and Chinese junk and ruger eyesores go on for pages.

That was almost exactly my reaction. A really good looking rifle.

I enjoy my post-war P-38/P-1's and have the 1938 version of the VZ24... great shooter... hit the range and enjoy them both.

whats goin on here? i dont want to single anybody out, but just recently i displayed 2 high condition WW2 1911A1 pistols that barely managed 4 posts combined.

meanwhile a chinese norinco is garnering 40 plus comments.

how on earth is a chinese copy of an actual historical artifact more interesting than the real deal?

old winchesters and such barely get a glance, and yet rogre revolvers that look like were made in a high school metal shop are all up and down the page.

when i look at those things i wonder if theres an actual dept within rogre whose sole responsibility is making sure everything is aesthetically unpleasing as possible

Nice rifle and rarer that a typical VZ24 if you take into account the Japanese connection. I also have a Japanese VZ24 that I picked up from a guy I work with. His father was part of the occupation forces in Japan after WW2 and he brought it home with him. Mine also has the original Kanji marked sling which are typically missing. The Japanese purchased VZ24's tend to be in very good condition, showing little if any use.

The bolt and bolt stop were missing on mine when I got it. His father had removed the bolt so the kid's couldn't fire it. After his father died, he couldn't find where his father had hidden the bolt.

I'm going to add photo of mine too just to keep this thread going. A 1944 Nazi WWII Mauser P38. It's pretty much like new. The roughness is the way they were making them back in 1944.

Don't have a VZ but here's my two P 38s; svw 45 and svw 46. They were assembled after the war by the French occupying forces who found enough parts at Oberndorf to assemble about 65,000 P 38s. Most immediately went to the French army in indochina.
