Sanderson Grips - Maybe?
They were on EBAY, and I'm sure a lot of you saw them. He said they were S&W and wanted $150. I offered $100 and got them. Came in today. You know, I will pay a C note for almost anything on a gamble. I'm trying these on the Smiths and there's just no way. Pulled some Colts, and that's it! They fit a Colt Python. Here they are on my Official Police. Sanderson grips were custom made from what I understand. Must have been before my time, as I never saw any. Cut from one big old block of beautiful wood. . .likely Walnut. They have the tension screw window and checkering that appears to be his style. Filled jig holes inside but no numbers that I can see. They were obviously made for a giant man who had a reason to want them in this style. They don't resemble early Herretts to me in any way. Any grip experts out there? What do you think they are?

I'm thinking early Herretts Doc. I had several sets just like that from Herretts that I ordered from them back in my Bullseye shooting days.
I'll have to look for them.

There you go! I was probably too little back then to even notice grips. . .could barely afford guns. When was Herrett doing this stuff? I'm restoring them now and found a date 11/1961 on them.

Look nice, and I also suspect Herrett's rather than Sanderson.
If you are able to see photos of the insides of the stock panels, the stock locating pin hole on S & Ws are centered on the bottom edge of the inletting, and Colts are offset toward the front or rear, can't remember which direction.

DocB,
There's a '63 Herrett's catalog shown in Mike Priwer's albums.

I found the Catalog. Very similar in many ways. They were getting $21.50 for these back in 1963. That was a lot of money. I was paying $5 to $10 for guns. Back then, I was 14.

Cleaned them up and oiled them. Didn't want to refinish since the age shows so well. The lines are amazing. I am glad they are dated. That way I at least know something for sure about them.
