Default A 1935 Beretta .32 joins the fold

The range I use has a gunstore attached, but their inventory is 99% boring black plastic stuff. They do a brisk trade, so I know I am out of the mainstream. I finished shooting the other day and was waiting for my buddy and I spotted a familiar shape waaaaaaay at the bottom of the wall display of handguns.

Hello there, little Beretta!

I fetched it out and it wasn't the .380 I expected. It was the littler brother - a Model 1935 in one of my favorite calibers, the .32 ACP.

It was marked at $299, and we settled on $300 out the door to include sales tax and the Colorado background check fee. I was pretty happy, then became really happy when the guy plunked a bag on the counter and said, oh yeah, this comes with it.

A holster, spare magazine, and 270 rounds of ammo. Slow clap.

The gun is in great shape - no import marks, and a faint "4 over UT" stamp that I believe means it was accepted for use by the Germans.

I love these little guns. Here is a family photo, with a 1964 .380 and a wartime .380 on the left, and a Model 948 .22 and this newest addition on the right.

Any other fans?

I have always liked the older .32's and that Beretta is one on my list. I have a Savage and a Walther PP already. Nice little holster as well.

So many of these pocket pistols that were originally designed for .32 and then upped to .380 work so much better in .32

I am not exactly a big fan of .32 Autos but have a few accumulated and the Beretta shoots halfway decently.

10 shots at 25 yards.

If I have to rate them by accuracy, the Walther PP is first, then a tie in between the CZ 27 and the Beretta 35 and the 1910/22s come next, they are pretty loose. The HSC has an abominable trigger pull.

How's the trigger pull?
The couple I've handled had very hard and
heavy triggers.

as I understand it the 4/UT mark was purely an Italian marking but many of these late Beretta's went to the Germans.

Sweet! I've always admired those and have a 1934 from 1941. Unfortunately mine has been refinished, so collector value is nil. And it does have stout trigger pull.

I agree - great deal these days. I am happy with my birth-year .380 1934, but actually kind of prefer the rarer 1935 with its little semi-rimmed .32 round.

Really happy for you, amigo - neat find!

With all the goodies thrown in I'd say you should have wore a mask and a hoodie to make that purchase. LOL. Congrats.

...my father in law was in the Army stationed in Germany in the 1950s...he brought a 32 Beretta back with him...it was passed down to my wife's brother...and when he passed...it left the family to in laws...I think my wife would really like to have it...but it wasn't meant to be...I'm sure it was probably pawned and is long gone...

The one I had was minty, most likely unfired. On a previous thread about these guns, a poster stated that many of these guns were found unissued in storage in Northern Italy, thereby accounting for their condition.

Bought a WWII Beretta 380 when I was 14. I couldn't afford a P38 ($35) or a Luger ($65) and couldn't find ammo for my Nambu ($10). So, you take what you can get ($20). I was really proud of it even though it would throw bullets out like shooting buckshot in a shotgun. At least I had a semi-auto pistol I could shoot. It was cool.

Great pistol at a good price! Any idea who made the holster? Would like something similar for my 948.

Regards,

Scott

We had one when I was growing up. My uncle brought one back from the Italian theater for my Dad. There was something wrong with the Beretta and in the late 60s my brother took it to a gun shop in Waukegan IL for repair. The shop "lost" the Beretta and gave him a piece of junk to make up for it. At the time my brother was about 20 and I'm sure they figured he's just a kid- so what.

But the folding bayonet Beretta/Carcano cavalry carbine my uncle also sent back to my Dad is still in the family! Dated 1943 and hasn't been shot since it left Italy!
