This has been reported several times over the last 2 years. I cured mine by installing a Timney.

Also be aware that there is a *separate*, *voluntary* recall for certain rifles manufactured prior to May 1, 2006. Prior to this date there are many Remington rifles that had was is commonly referred to as the Walker trigger. A number of people have had issues with this trigger. It is claimed that the trigger has discharged without it being touched in any way.

The "voluntary" aspect of this recall is, if you have experienced this behavior with a Walker trigger, Remington will apparently replace the trigger upon request. They are not recalling all Walker triggers.

If one looks on Remington's website they have information for how to identify a Walker trigger. I have a 700 made in the '70s and it (had) a Walker trigger. I replaced it with a Timney as well.

I bought a Model 700 back in the early 70's and just a couple of years ago I gave it to my nephew (I've no children). Heard of trigger problems about 2 years ago and we did some research to make sure that rifle didn't have any issues. Thankfully, the one I bought was not one that had trigger issues. During the time I had it, it didn't have any issues. It was a fine .30-06 deer rifle.

Saw a piece just a few weeks ago on "60 Minutes" about Remington triggers. It has been known for a few years now. However, it is not something to be taken lightly. If you have a suspect rifle, get it corrected as soon as possible.

God bless,
Birdgun
