With a normal grip there is no way mine could bite me. Yours must be meaty hands, indeed.

I bought one about a year ago and I've shot it a lot. I have never had any problems shooting it. I've shot hand loads and 230 hard ball factory ammo in it. Neat little gun.

I've got a XDs 45ACP 3.3in

Shoots great.
Rivals the size of some single stack 9mm.
100% reliable.
No problems.

Exactly...why i choose the shield 45 over the XDS...it is not a fun or comfortable weapon to fire in 45 acp........

That's great...really..i guess we all have different hand sizes and comfort levels because the XDS just did not fit me for comfort and the shield did
..not saying anything bad about the XDS. It's just not to my comfort level

I have a XDs and meaty hands, and will report no conflicts in that department.

XDs is my "city" gun, I take that one when I leave the relative safety of my home area.

Shield is a taller gun with a considerably longer grip than the XDs. No surprise that folks say the Shield shoots softer. If ya want a larger gun that's more comfortable to shoot you'll pay for it on the concealment end. Nothing about a carry gun is free.

Here's a pic I plucked of the Net comparing the Shield and XDs. He has a wrap around grip on the XDs (right).

XDs with flush mag 4.50" height. Shield 45 with flush mag 4.88" height. diff .38 inch. just so everyone is informed.. personally don't have a prob with the shield concealment but Phil is correct the XDs would conceal better due to difference in height.

XDs = 4.4in. About a half in difference compared to the Shield.

Yes I have the same model .I really like this firearm carry it I W B well. I will say it was a lil rough to break in. It would not run a full mag thtrw the 1 st 500 rounds. After that its been very good. I called Springfield on this they said its normal.

I bought a M&P 40 C the week after the Springfield. M&P been flawless it rides in I W B too it is a bit bulker than Springfield. Looking at picture here I think my issue is I ride my hand to far up . And agian got some beef on hands lol. Me on massive blood thiners so a lil bite gets it flowing if you know what I mean . Lol. Again not to ditch the Springfield its my 1 st one and like it. I do shoot the M &P 40c a bit better.

I posted this on your other related thread. You not alone, someone is producing a shield for protection from bite. Found this on a search for XDS beavertail. Don't have a link for it.

Carry an xds 45 during day, when concealment is paramount. It has some "lift" to it when firing 230 grainers, especially plus p's. Did round over the edges of serrations on front of grip. Did try the extended mag, but had problems with force of recoil disconnecting mag catch.

A little bit of xtra grip length can make an outsize difference in conceal ability. The shields grip is far away more comfortable.
