Default Stevens single shot 12 gauge

I found an old single shot Stevens 12 gauge in a gun shop south of me. It has a 28" barrel, an ejector and Tenite fore end and butt stock. It isn't perfect by any means, but it is worth $84 out the door, to me anyway. I have my granddaddy's .22/.410 over/under, also with the Tenite stock, that he bought around WW II. They make a nice pair.

I'll try and get some pictures up later this week.

Yup, that gun will always be worth more than $84! Or should we say $78 plus tax.

I paid a good bit more than 87 bucks for this Winchester model 37 .410 recently...but I was more than happy to do it. There's a lot of good shooting left in these old single shots.

I have plenty of nice pump guns, but nothing gives me as much pleasure as this one

I gave each of my sons 3 guns, a 22 rifle at about 10, a single shot 20 gauge at age 12, and a 1911 at age 21. (And a new suit and the boot at age 22!) I prepared them for the world!

That Stevens you have is one of the better single shots made.
I believe the Tenite stock cost more than wood at the time. I
forget the model number of those, but at the right rear of action
it will say 94 --something. A lot of guys filled stocks with sand
through butt plug for stock bolt, to reduce recoil. You got to be
careful what cleaners get on that Tenite, some will soften it or
cause it to break down. They had Tenite stocks on the 94 singles
on doubles, the 22/410, and a wierd Stevens Manual repeater
124 I think. I have same gun with walnut stock my oldman got
as prize for selling salve back in the day. Gun has been shot
100s of times and looks new, tight as day it was new. A lot of
guys dislike them because of straight stock, like a rifle. I grew
up with them and liked them for that reason. H&Rs & IJs always
looked crude to me. I think I have a 30"FC barrel for one. The
only major difference in them is latch & stud for Fore arm, from
model/ series.
