Default Remington 722B

I just bought a Rem model 722B in 222Rem, SN 339XXX with beautiful AAA checkered wood, jeweled bolt, machined trigger guard & hinged floor plate and Rust-Blued metal work. I think it came out of the custom shop in 1953(as stamp code). Can anyone give more information for what I have? Thank you!

Ted

I am not educated on later Remingtons but I have seen quite a few 721-722's and have never seen one with anything but the standard stamped steel trigger guard. Would like to see some pictures. Sounds interesting.

The 721 (long action) and 722 (short action) series are the direct predecessors of the Remington 700 series. Actually developed from the US 1917 Enfield action, with numerous modifications, one of the strongest and most accurate developments in the bolt action rifle field.

Sounds like you have either a custom shop order rifle, or more likely a custom rifle produced by a talented gunsmith. Many thousands were produced and most remain in service to this day.

Thumbs up

Most 722 stocks were pretty bland.
I think mine also in 222 an employee probably picked the stick.

Love to see a picture of yours.
