Default Will 92 FS grips fit a 92 SB?

I just acquired a 92 SB for about $300 in pretty good shape except for a slight crack in the grips - they are still sound but would like to replace them with different grips. The SB looks exactly like an FS to me (but I don't have an FS to compare) and thought maybe the FS after market or factory grips would fit but don't want to purchase them without a pretty good indication that they will fit the 92 SB

Any one have experience or know the anwer to the question.

They should work. Houge and Numrich says they are the same.

The SB is pretty much the same as the SB-F, the only difference being the round vs square trigger guard, and the front of the frame on the SB-F being flared at the bottom. The SB-F was adopted by the US Army as the M9 pistol. Beretta changed the designation of the 92SB-F to 92F after adoption by the Army.

While the SB-F/F/FS have a flared front frame, the grip panel itself wasn't changed and remains straight. It should fit your SB, as long as it's a full-size and not a compact. A compact would obviously require a compact grip.

The measurements between the top and bottom grip screws on my 92FS are 2 7/8th inches, center to center, if that helps.

While I don't have an SB to find out for sure, I'd bet good money they are the same panels as the FS.

Technically, no. FS grips have a cutout on the backside of the left grip to allow for the enlarged hammer/safety pin which was part of the FS change to the pistols. Placing these grips on your SB could (probably not likely but I suppose it's possible) allow the smaller pin on your gun to walk out of position due to the clearance the FS cutout provides. One workaround to this I've seen is to fill the cutout with a shim of some sort to eliminate the possibility of the pin walking.

The good news is SB grips aren't hard to find. There are multiple sets on eBay and GunBroker right now.

Never had an issue...... if you are worried; just fill the cut out with a rubber washer.
