Your One Only
We all seen these on your one and only firearm. Lets switch it up . This would be your one and only Knife. Lets say some sort of it hit the fan type thing. This knife would have mutil purpose . The normal every day stuff but add to use as weapon if needed. Mine would be A Buck 110 . And yours is ???

Some flavor of Kephart. If limited to what I now own, it would be a Condor Kephart, but I might look for something with 1095 or D2 steel. Or I might just stick with 1075, considering that I might have to sharpen it on a rock.

One and Only
One and only knife would be a bitter pill. I have 8 lockbacks,
4 autos, 1 assisted, 1 flipper, and 1 Bowie. I like them all.
But if I could only have one I think I would choose the Kershaw
Junkyard Dog II with flipper technology. 5.2 oz. 3.75" ss blade.
I like that it's ambi-dexterous. When I carry a gun on my right
side, the knife is clipped on my left side. Shown here with my
EDC.

Would be a very tough call. I carry a Spyderco Endura every day, but I'd be tempted to keep my 45 year old Buck 119.

I have almost as many knives as I have guns, and I have a lot of guns. But if survival is the key, and I can only have one, a military bayonet would be my choice. I have a couple; I like the ones that went with the M-14.

Other than a Swiss Army knife, it'd be my Benchmade Model 710, for a folder.
For a sheath knife, a Fallkniven S-1. Mine has the discontinued Kydex sheath. I also have a Swedish pouch type leather sheath. The larger A-1 is also a favorite, but the S-1 with five-inch blade is a little handier for most needs. The A-1 is a better combat knife and chopper.
Actually, especially in a jungle area, my Corneta machete with 12-inch blade makes a lot of sense. An 18-inch blade might be even more versatile.
My son recently gave me a Victorinox Hunter model of Swiss Army knife. It, too, could function in that role. Too heavy for routine pants pocket carry, it does well in a belt pouch or jacket pocket. I like the locking blade and the gutting blade cuts rope easily. The saw is also larger and more efficient than those on smaller SAK's, like the Camper model.

A Swiss Army knife like the one I carry daily in my non-gun pocket--- either Victorinox or Wenger, with a saw, corkscrew in back containing an instrument srewdriver in the coil, scissors and the other basic standard tools. This is compact and very versatile. The only added tool I would like is the fire starter, but you have to go to a much larger unit to get it which I am not willing to carry daily.

I guess you mean the big folder? They also made a sheath knife with about a seven-inch blade in the SERE series.

Sorry, I am already a two knife at all times guy! EDC means what you carry every day, so I can't be caught with just one knife (or zero guns!) I'm not real fancy, just a SAK Tinker, and a Kershaw/Emerson folder, they are dependable and you should be able to own the pair for $80-85.

I have a forge and an anvil. I will never have only one knife. If I only had one knife I would built a simple forge and find something for an anvil.
If I was going to get dumped in the middle of no where with only one knife it would be a fair sized full tang knife made with 5160. Hard to break, chip, not the greatest edge holder by a ways but easy to sharpen. Properly built probably the steel that will take the most punishment with out cracking or snapping. Almost every one in the Knife makers guild uses it for their journeyman test because of the chopping and bending portion of the test. First you must cut through a piece of free hanging 1" manila robe with one swing, then chop (not widdle) through a pine 2x4, then shave hair with it. Then put the the tip 1/3 of the blade in a vise and bent it to 90 decrees without it breaking. Think your knife can do that. The last thing I want with only one knife is a broken blade.

See that was my problem too while I went with the Buck 110. I really havent carried one in many years yet would be first pick when it gets bad. I have many lock blades to pick from. I guess it the timeless proven blade for me.I use to carry one at work in the 80s with the black buck case on the belt. I carried it up side down so all you had to was un do rhe snap it would fall into your hand

No, it's a Lee Jr., they were marked Olsen after '62. Same maker though,(Olsen) of Howard City, Michigan. My father bought this one new around '60. I believe he made lesser knives in other places. It's hunted with me on four continents.

Same for me, two every day. Generally a flat-ground Spyderco Endura (sometimes a SOG Flash II) and a Victorinox Pioneer or Super Tinker.
But if I literally could only have one for every purpose, one I know would be almost totally indestructible (nothing is 100%), it would be my Bark River Highland Special 4" fixed blade or one-of-fifteen Forager 4.5". Convex ground A2 steel cryo-treated to 58-60 Rockwell, canvas Micarta handles. Handy size, real workhorses.

Kershaw Speedsafe. It's the first I've carried EDC that wasn't a "in the pocket knife". It's been a few years now, and the only problem with it is that I don't keep it sharp like I should. Not the fault of the knife. I made a holster for it so it doesn't trash my Wranglers.

Last to Go
This Bench Made "Elishewitz" mod. lock open folder, would most likely be the last knife, of my collection to go. It, like my firearms has been much used, but never abused. I was carrying this knife, while signing up for a tour of one of the twin towers of the Trade Center, when a guard said you are carrying a knife, and knives are not allowed in the tower, and you will have to leave it here with me until you return from the tour. He then took my knife, and placed it on the top of his cubicle, right out in front of everyone, where anyone could just pick it up, and walk away with it. So, I told him that I would just turn my ticket back in, get the money back, and wait until our group came back, which I, and my wife did. I missed taking the tour, and seeing the tower. A short time later the Twin towers were destroyed, but I still have my knife, and my Wife. Pardon the long true story.

I have lots of knives... started collecting when I was 7 or 8... I am 50 now... I will vote for KABAR as well...

One knife for a SHTF scenario?
It would have to be a versatile fixed blade version.
I have an old, Old timer that is a great do it all, easy to work with knife. Not as good for fighting as my Ka-Bar but better at everything else.
Not my photo.

My EDC is a SAK Tinker, but the knife in my bug out bag is this Buck 102. I bought it in the PX at Ft Richardson AK in 1968 and it's been many miles on my belt (and looks it).

That is a tough one. I don't know, maybe a fixed blade knife Bob Terzuola made for me 30 years ago. D-2 steel, etc.

I've carried some form of folding pocket knife since I was about 10-12....for the last year a little 2.9" Benchmade "North Fork" w/ wood scales.
I've become fond of the 5" Ka-bar MarkI as a utility knife at the cabin.
I've got a Ka-bar extreme fighting/utility knife for TEOTWAWKI but the little Mk I is much more useful on a daily basis...... Picked up a couple of the early Hogue EX-FO1 that they were selling as "seconds"......we all seem to have a "big knife"........ or three...... I can't justify mine even to myself ..... but it nice to know I've got one....if the Zombies ever show up

First off, my EDC is a 96-year old Schrade switch-blade that was a gift from a good friend with the instructions, "I want you to use this!" And I do every day and touch up the blade almost every night.
But in the situation the OP described where the knife would be used as a weapon also, I'd probably add a fixed-blade knife. Which one? Well, I have a few nice Randall knives that are all users and would definitely fit the bill, but if "push came to shove," I'd probably go with the fixed-blade in the picture below. It was made by my oldest son and given to me one Christmas. The steel is AUS8 with a ¼-inch spine and a 5-inch, full tang, blade.
This is one of those "been there, done that" knives that has tackled every job from slicing camp bacon to whittling shavings for the campfire to boning out an elk. It holds an edge exceptionally well and touches up without a lot of effort. Yep, I think I'd go with this one.

I was at Northern Knives in Anchorage last year and saw this one. Seems to be the best shape of mine (except maybe my #23 Randall) and the grip matches my OM Blackhawk 45. Between those 2, I'm confidant I could face just about anything in North America, man or beast!

Would hate to have to choose just one blade. Likely one of my Zero tolerance folders, or my Benchmade Bushcrafter. I dunno... any one of my TOPS 1095 blades would be fine to live with as well.
I guess I'd have to narrow my circumstances down... SHTF in town might pick my ZT 0300 heavy folder. Escape to the wilderness and I'd probably rather have the Bushcrafter. But the rrason that I have safes full of guns and knives is so I don't have to live with just one.

The question posed in the OP, is the reason I bought a Randall model 1. Now I know for sure which knife to grab.
If the question was if you could only have 1 knife, like the OP, I'd choose a Buck 110. My choice for EDC, for over 30 years, no regrets.
But in a real SHTF scenario, I'd want my Randall.

One Knife
I own a number of good knives: Buck, Tree, Gerber, several Pumas, the best all round knife, for me, is my Puma "Game Warden" since 1985. I like it even better than my Puma "Bowie". Its a two bladed large folder with a gutting blade.

Poop hit the fan? World is ending soon? Zombies?
I'd pull out the old beat up Randall Made Knife and use it for it's intended purpose...

I am somewhere north of 300 knives, everything from 2 for a dollar to $1000+. Pocket knives, sheath knives, swords, machetes, switch blades, gravity knives, etc. Oh, and kukris, tomahawks and axes.
Which one would I pick? Without a doubt, my Randal Model 14 Attack.
But how about a longer answer? I carry a SAK every day. And a Gerber Applegate Covert Auto. Sometimes I add a Leatherman Original.
If I'm going out to the farm, I usually add my BlindHorse Knives Bushcrafter. It is a very non-threatening knife and incredibly useful.
Always in my truck are a Gerber Prodigy, a spare SAK and spare multi-tool, along with 3 days worth of food and water, dust masks, fire making kit, cook set, 2 compasses, a GPS, topo maps of my state, binoculars, carabiners, a rescue pulley, 100' of 1/2" climbing rope, an axe, and a bowsaw.
My wander around in the woods kit is a 32oz Pathfinder Bottle kit, in a molle compatible bag with a shoulder strap. Another Gerber Prodigy is attached to it and the bag holds an alcohol stove, cup/cook pot w/lid, spork, 3 ways to make fire, and a small bag with hot choclate, tea, and 2 types of bouillon.
My zombie apocalypse vest has a Gerber LMF2 attached, along with a Glock 22, 5 extra Glock mags, 6 extra MagPul 30 mags for the CAR, a tritium compass, 2 GI canteens w/cups and lids and an angle head flash light.
My Boy Scouting rig is a large 2 bladed Case Scout knife, with a SAK in my pocket.
Bored yet?
My hunting rig is either a walnut handled Buck Vanguard or Schrade sharp finger "Little Finger". And always my SAK.
When I used to go to Rendezvous I carried a Ken Richardson Large Bowie and a KR patch knife. My tomahawk I made myself and my throwing knife was a Gemmer Beavertail.
Did I mention the Bayonets?
Oh, and I also collect compasses.

I think even a zombie will be impressed by this pig sticker.

My one and only? It would be between the Schrade USA 15OT or the 152OT. Since someone already said the 15OT Deerslayer, I'll pick the 152OT Sharpfinger. It's a bit smaller, but very easy to wield.

It used to be if a boy couldn't be trusted with a pocket knife by the time he was eight or nine years old he was considered a wastrel by adults and a failure among his peers. I have been carrying a some variation of the classic Scout knife for better than 60 years, mostly a GI Camillus. When I have to dress "nice," I like something a little smaller in the pocket like Buck Cadet.
But, if SHTF, I think I would opt for the added capabilities of an M7 bayonet.

About 40 years ago I had a friend who was at least in his late 60s at the time. He was the definition of "old school" (in the best of ways) and had owned a service station for many years. When he interviewed a potential employee he would pick at his thumbnail and casually ask if the guy had a knife on him he could borrow. Any man who didn't carry a pocketknife was not prepared to go out into the world, and would not get hired, period.
Back on topic, I have a pretty decent knife collection -- some very cheap advertising knives, and some that I think are pretty nice. In answer to the op's query, I would guess my K-bar folder, or my Buck folder, although my Glock 78 field knife might be a good choice too because it doesn't look like it's worth stealing
