I'm thinking about getting one of these in stainless steel. Has anyone sized teth cylinders and bore on theirs? I don't really want one if it can't accurately shoot a standard .452 sized lead slug.

I haven't sized my chamber mouths, but both of my newer Blackhawks in .45 Colt shoot pretty well with anything thing I load in my brass. I know there was a problem a few years ago with small chamber mouths that cause accuracy problems, but my newer versions don't show any of the problems associated with that condition. Both of mine are not stainless, but blued versions, and one is a convertible, and I haven't had any problems. Either will kill a deer at 50 yds., which is what I limit my shots to. I love both, and have some reloads that will do the job on just about any game animal in North America. I'm happy with mine, and Ruger seemed to get their act together on the newer versions.........

I have a .357/9mm Convertible and haven't had any accuracy issues shooting 9mm.

I've had mine since 1977. Never sized the cylinders. Didn't even know that was a common problem until I joined a gun forum or two. I shot many a .454 lead bullet reload through it back in the day. I just figured I was a bad shot, LOL.

But seriously, I could squeeze out 2" groups at 25 yards from a rest with the 4 5/8" barrel.

I have a couple of stainless convertibles in .357/9mm and .45 Colt/.45 ACP/.45 AR. The older .45’s are the ones that sometimes had excessively tight chamber throats. My .45’s date from ’98 to ’00 and came with throats that measured, with plug gages and later an electronic internal mic, at something like .449 to .450”. In addition to being undersized, the shapes of the throats were, shall we say, colorful; I hade slightly oval, S shaped, tapered. Everything except cylindrical of about .452”. I reamed all the undersized throats, both .45 Colt and .45 ACP. It made a big difference in mine. They are now very accurate.

The newer one are supposed to be much better from the factory. I don't have any new ones.
