Mouse Gun Maintenance Question
I have a general question about maintaining mouse guns. I have an LCP that I shoot regularly and clean immediately afterward. In the interim I'll field strip, lube lightly and wipe it down, about every four to six weeks. Mine is pocket carried, in a Sticky pocket holster, often enough to get some pocket lint. How many others do the same thing and how many others just ignore it until it goes to the range? Thanks in advance . . .

A carry gun is your MOST IMPORTANT gun and should be maintained regularly. You are correct in cleaning and lubing it every 6 weeks or so as you stated, and NOT neglecting it.
Even if you are between scheduled maintenance routines a look over often is important too. Perform maintenance sooner if needed especially in hot weather. Sounds like you are doing everything right.

When I EDC'ed the Shield IWB, it was a crazy lint magnet, and I did what you do. When I switched IWB EDC to the all metal CZ PCR, the lint problems stopped.
My husband and I both EDC'ed the same guns in the same holsters, and had the same lint issue with the plastic gun that stopped with the metal gun.
I think there is a static electricity thing going on.
I shoot the PCR regularly, so I stopped the lint check. Still unload my carry ammo, P9HST2, to wipe off the oxidation on the copper HP.

I check my Bodyguard .380 fairly often. I field strip it, to ensure no lint or other debris will affect function. I try to go to the range with it every couple of months.

Every few weeks I check my LCP for dust bunnies.

I will occasionally pocket carry an LCP and frequently break it down and thoroughly clean and lube it. That's just the name of the game with any carry gun.
I'm one of those guys who doesn't like surprises except on his birthday...and at my age, I don't like 'em even then. As a result, I sure as heck don't want a carry gun fail to fire when I need it most.

My P32 gets pocket carried, and I will clean it every four to six weeks. It doesn't take long, just a quick going over. I replace the cartridges every three or four months. I rotate the mags every six months.

Don't know if it applies or helps with this lint "dust bunny" stuff but I know this works on the bench.
A long time ago I was taught that using one of the fabric sheets that you throw into dryer with the laundry can be used to wipe down the pan on your powder scale to prevent the leftover powder granules from sticking to it. Been using them for years on the pans and scales. They are also terrific when it comes to tumbling brass, cut one up in quarters and throw in with brass, collects all the loose powder residue and gunk. Certainly helps with the end result.
Can't see any harm in wiping down a gun, metal or plastic.

BTW,
It is NOT uncommon to see a slight bit of rust starting EVEN on a Stainless Steel gun in hot and humid environments. While pocket carry is a great method of CCW, the gun IS directly next to your sweaty body - so check it for rust often and DON'T FORGET to look underneath the grips!!

Chief38 is right about checking under the grips, especially rubber stocks which tend to trap moisture that quickly turns to rust.

I have a .380 Kel-Tec that gets a little bit of pocket time, but mostly IWB. It gets wiped down frequently because I take it running several times a week, and sees a good bit of perspiration.
I take it out on a range trip every 2 to 3 months and shoot what's in the gun. Then it gets torn down, cleaned up, and new rounds.

I suggest that after 4 to 6 weeks you put 8 or 10 rounds through it before cleaning to test for malfunctions.

For my edc and hd guns I try to clean and check them weekly. It might be more than necessary but I kinda enjoy doing it.

Normally I carry my 340 M&P and wipe it down w/a silicone cloth a few times a week. I've been carrying J frames for well over 40 years and found they need little if any attention.

Daily PMCS was drilled into me a very long time at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The First Sergeant was a veteran of WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. He quite vividly explained how disappointing it is to hear a click when you are in desperate need of a boom.
