More Pawn Shop Fun, Winchester 94....
A local pawn shop near me has a crazy generous layaway program, 10% down, 10% a month till it's paid. Makes it easy for a guy like me with low cash to pick up some gems. Recently saw a neat 1972 vintage Model 94 in 30/30 caliber, priced at $300 which wasn't too painful, so I laid it away, today I picked it up.
Has a pleasantly patina'ed look to it, plenty of nicks here and there to show it has been hunted with:
Racked up with it's cousin lever guns, Rossi 92's, .357 and .44 Magnum caliber:
I think this one will find a home in my camping van.....

Congrats, a lever day, is a good day.
Good place to keep that bore cleaning rod too.
So, gonna go for another caliber lever, in that last unused spot?

Beauty! $300 for a Win 94 any year any caliber is getting hard to come by.

I think this one will find a home in my camping van.....[/QUOTE]
That is exactly where a 94 belongs. Either behind the seat, strapped to a snowmobile, tied to an airplane wing, leaning against a tree near a campfire, lashed to a backpack, in a camper, or just behind the kitchen door. Two boxes of Walmart ammo and you are ready. No need for no sissy gun case with a 94. They were made to have character marks. One of mine lives under the seat, in the stow and go compartment, of the family van. You just never know when a 30-30 bullet will solve a situation.

Big Wheel,
You read my mind as to my intentions with that rifle rack. I was thinking how nice it would look with five lever guns in it, kind of like an Old West Sherriff's Office....

Well, for that look, you need a short-barreled 12ga double gun.

Since you have two 92's and one 94, to stay with the series you need two 86's. 45-70 is the most common round. Although, as I think about it 94's in 32-40 and 38-55 would look almost as nice as the 86's!
A model 97 pump shotgun is an appropriate companion for John Browning's trifecta of lever rifles!
Keep in mind, if you buy any Marlin lever guns, you need a different rifle rack!

Without a serial number, I would say mid to late 70’s. Nice gun, can never have enough levers.

...I need to look for one of those Rossi 92s in 44 Magnum to go with my three revolvers in that caliber...

Good buy, in my opinion. Gun has some nice wood on it, too.

I see in the rack photo, that the brite orange cable runs under the hammer of 1st lever on left direct to rear sight on 2nd and into the forearm of the 3rd....
That is uber cool.....to have your guns wired for Internet...now when you draw down on that deer, only to see its not legal, you just flick to a streaming video of your favorite tube show.
Definitely cool.
Probably I am 6 days late with this post
OP: Great buy....I haven't seen any 94, even 94AE's for less than 5 Benjamins around here. You did fine for $300, I'd have busted my arm trying to draw my wallet from concealed carry.

You did fine!
My 30-30 was made in 1981, went thru a fire and now is beautiful again.
Cerakoated metal and great wood on it.
Shoots perfectly with "tru-glo" sights on it!!

I see even the post 64 models are increasing in value these days. Had a 94 I bought new in 1974. Paid around $100 back then if that.

I bought one of similar vintage second hand in 1976. The butt stock of mine got pretty badly damaged when it fell out of a tree with me and I replaced the wood with a "plastic" stock as I could not afford wood at the time. I also installed a Williams receiver sight and found that I could put three rounds into a business card at 100 yards (even with my eyesight).
Great rifle and lots of fun to shoot.

Don't forget to fill one of those slots with a good .22 lever.

Very nice!
I have two pre-64 Winchester 94s in .30-30. My next quest is a Savage 1899 in .300.
Best,
Charles

Now we're talking, my little brother has a very early 9422, which I should have replicated?? parents bought it for him for Christmas or something?
However, I would have shown it a lot more love.
