The only one I have is a flintlock 20 gauge Northwest Trade Gun.
Does it count?

Always been an 870 fan. This one came to me years ago with a 30", FC vent rib barrel. Added the 18" tube some years later and the Tac-Star two round extension yesterday. I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Thinking about picking up a Marine Magnum to keep it company.

I can unequivocally say these are my favorite two shotguns, all they have "killed" so far are sporting clays.

Not the best or most expensive but, it's reliable, accurate and I like it.
My only complaint is, the excessively long stock. A couple of inches shorter would suit me just fine.
Currently, only one company makes an adjustable stock for it and therefore, they are VERY proud of it.

Mine used to be my Browning BPS 12 Gauge until I stepped up to the Semi-Auto World. Now its my Browning Silver Hunter in 20ga. I prefer the 20ga to the 12 for the game I hunt with it (Dove).

Great post and a great story about a man and a fine old shotgun. Very well told, and with your usual fine photography to illustrate the comments.
I no longer hunt, but when I did, there didn't seem to be anything finer at the time than heading into the field on a crisp sunny day with a venerable old side by side. It never mattered to me if I got any birds...it was the process that appealed to me...the overall ambience of the setting. It was often as if I could smell the Earth, our planet, and feel it rotating under my feet.

I'm going to cheat and name two.
This 20 gauge Fox Sterlingworth belonged to my grandfather. If my house caught fire the order of evacuation would be: people, dogs, this shotgun, cats.
I shoot birds with it sometimes, but my favorite for that activity is this Belgian Browning A-5 12 gauge.

No need to evacuate our cat
As soon as his shotgun is taken out he will follow on his own
As readily seen from the above, the cat is very possessive of his SXS 12 gauge

I'm not much of a shotgun guy. Only own two. I've had this Winchester 1300 Defender for about 20 years, and this Mossberg Shockwave for less than 20 days.

Put the 30" tube back on and call up Nordic Components and see if they will make you a full length blued magazine extension. Could be a 14 round shotgun!

Can't narrow it to just one. I shoot clays with all three of these, although the 12 gauge gets the most use. Savage/Stevens Fox Model B, 12, 16, and 20 gauge. The 20 gauge is older than I am (I'm 63).

I really can't make up my mind...

Or my 24903?

[It's a tossup.

I've got several but this Hatsan Escort has got to be my favorite. 5+1 and as slick an action as more expensive guns. Joe

I have 8-O/U's, 5-SxS's, 2-Semi-autos, 6-pumps, and 3 Savage 24's (all something over 20 gauge). To figure out which one is my favorite, I would have to go with the one I shoot the most. That would be a Browning Citori Feather XS (Sporting) 30" 410! Since 2005 I have shot about 40,000 rounds through it, about half 3" and the other 50% 2 1/2 inch. I have an identical 28 gauge that gets about 1/4th the use.
My favorite pump is a 1897 12 gauge made in 1904 with a barrel cut to just over 18". IT's old, ugly, and conveys a bad attitude, just the way I like it!
I always have my eye out for another shotgun that catches my fancy!
Ivan
