Browning P-35 Grips
Hi:
I ordered a pair wood grips for a Browning Hi Power (P-35) 9mm Pistol.
This pistol was purchased new in the early 1980 era.
The pistol came with rubber grips (Pachemir-sic).
The wood grips are used and does not fit. Seems to be not cut not quite correctly.
Is there a slight different in different era of grip size in these pistols ?
Thanks,
Jimmy

There shouldn't be Jimmy. I've ordered "new-old-stock" HP grips for HPs as old as early post-war, and they have fit. Some of the custom or after market grips may not fit as well. But I also have used Herretts and Houges, and they've fit really well.

The frame dimensions of Hi-Powers changed slightly when FN went from forged to cast frames on the MkIII. If you purchased grips for a cast frame gun, they might not be cut perfectly to your earlier gun. The various foreign clones also differ in dimension slightly, so you might have grips from one of them.

Regarding a slightly different dimension between the forged and cast frames; you are correct. I never noticed, so I just tried to swap the left grip panel between my 1993 (MKIII-cast) Sport, and my 1967 ( "T" series-forged), and they are about 1/2 a screw hole different.

Jimmy, were the used grips you bought originally from Browning, or an aftermarket maker?
