Opinions on eBay oddity?
I recently purchased an ambidextrous magazine release for my AR service rifle so that I could shoot it in competition left handed. Up until this afternoon, the listing was available on eBay. After the part arrived this afternoon, I went to post feedback, and eBay politely posted that they had to remove the listing and that I didn't have to complete the sale. I have never seen something like this before.
When I went to see if eBay had removed all parts usable on an AR platform, they were still there. Even the seller still had active auctions. What added to the confusion is that AR ambidextrous magazine releases were still available for active auctions.
Can anyone offer an idea as to what is going on?

In many cases deletions such as you saw seem to be completely random. eBay employs both software and people to cruise listings for violations of their No "Assault Rifle" Stuff (ridiculous, I know) rules and it all depends on who/what spots any particular item at any time as to whether it gets deleted or is overlooked.

My favorite E-Bay auction was one seller with three items being sold at the same time. First was a stock for a model 41 Remington. The second was a complete bolt assembly for the same rifle. No problem so far but his third item was the barrel. His description didn't mention that the receiver was still attached but the photos showed a complete barreled action with the trigger! He even offered combined shipping if you won all three. I've often wondered if this was an ATF sting or was E-Bay really that ignorant. I'm betting E-Bay was that stupid!

My money is on eBay's ignorance; the owner's intellect not far behind.

X2
I was looking not to long ago for a set of grips for a Virginian Dragoon on eBay, I just did a general search with the name of the firearm and in the listings there was a complete revolver with box listed. Don't now if it sold but it shows just stupid some people are.

The oddity deepens. I just went on to eBay, and the listing was restored. Boy am I getting baffled!

Here's a wild *** guess. While searching for something she considered more polite little Miss. Goody Goody Two Shoes stumbled onto the ambidextrous safety. Horrified she clicked on "Report item" which is an option on every auction. eBay, meaning their big computer, automatically pulled the item and sent you the notice. The seller protested to eBay by clicking on appropriate spots. The big computer automatically reversed itself instantly restoring his auctions and status.
That's what the big computer has always done for me. You did not think an actual human at eBay would look at it did you?
