Picked up my 1890 Uberti Remington 1890 today at LGS. Gunsmith was informed hammer was difficult, to say the least, to cock. Will have to ask him what he did, but can now do it with my right thumb when it took almost two hands to pull down the hammer. Three day turnaround, 60 bucks well spent. Being a large single action, bit harder than a Ruger single six, but manageable. Will post what was wrong when I find out.

I really like the looks of those guns. I had an 1875 repro but sold it and bought my Model 27-2. Where was your gunsmith up there? I know your close to RCBS where I haven't visited in a long time. It's good to know where local, or semi local gunsmiths are.

He lives in the Chico, CA area, I believe. He fixed a PO...stuff revolver for me which needed a new mainspring, got it working better than new. Will get his contact info if you wish. He is usually backed up but got this one through in record time. Probably found some Skittles in the works or something...just kidding.

Talked to gunsmith, he explained the mainspring on these things is made of something or other steel, about the stiffest material strength wise out there. He took off 15/10000 of an inch, said to try it out to make sure it would fire, and if so he could try to make it a bit less stiff if I care to. Time for a range report.
