Hi power slides back from Novaks!!
I've been wanting to do it for a whille. I finally "pulled the trigger". I sent my 2 Mk-III hi power slides off to Novaks for plain black wide notch rear sights, and brass bead front sights. $300 and exactly 1 week later. I couldn't be happier. They turned out great. I can highly recommend Novaks to anyone looking to improve the sight picture on their hi power.

How does the slide safety lock you have compare to the issued ones on the Israely MKIII high powers. The longer lever makes activating it easier?. The one on the Israely (Israel issued) is where I think JMB goofed. Extremely hard to engage and just as hard to disengage. Great idea with the gold bead front sight. Frank

Very nice and good to hear!
I have one handgun with a brass bead front sight and I would like it on some others, so I really appreciate the heads up!

One of these is a newer manufacture mkiii ( '13 I think), and the other is an Israeli trade in mk iii (early 90's). The safety levers are identical on these two samples, but my understanding is that there all sorts of variations coming out of israel.

FYI, initially I thought I would like to go with a set of Heine slant pros. Turn around was 10-12 weeks from Heine directly. I checked with two of the top hi power smiths, Jim Garthwaite had a 20 month backlog, and Don Williams (Action Works) couldn't get to the work until late summer. I talked to Novaks and they said 2 weeks. That sealed it for me. I went with Novaks and actual turn around was 1 week exactly.

Great looking MKIIIs. Is that $300 for both ? Wow !! I haven't had Novak work on a Hi Power for a few years, and I recall paying about $150 for a set of sights on a 1980 "standard" back them. Novak knows how to maintain a great customer base with their quality and fair pricing
BTW are those Navidrex grips ?

Yes the grips on both guns are navidrex. The total for both was $309 plus shipping ($14). Front brass bead sight was $49.95 x2, plain black rear was $34.95 x2, and the cost to machine the rear dovetail was $70.00 x2. They used their "MK III" version of their hi power sights, which only requires minor machining on the existing rear dovetail. No cutting is necessary on the front dovetail. They just use the existing MKIII front dovetail.

Haven't had a chance to shoot them yet. I just sent the slides in so they didn't test fire before sending it back. I kind of took it on faith that they have probably done a ton of these mkiii's, so I assume they have the proper heights to use down. The factory mkiii sights regulated just fine for me so I dont expect any problems. I'm hoping to be able to get a quick trip to the range in on Monday.
