Default Pawn Shop Winchester 94 VS rabbit: Pics....

Took my recent pawn shop acquisition Winchester 94 (1972 vintage) to my mountain top rifle range and ran some rounds through it. Rifle worked great, sights were regulated dead on, so I tried some 30/30 rounds on a strange rabbit specie known only to Far Souhwest Virginia, "Ferro Lepus" in Latin:

Five rounds of 150 grain Federal 30/30, fired from the prone position at 50 yards. This rabbit takes a lot of lead, each shot knocked it down, but it got up for more.

I'm loving this rifle more than any used gun I've owned in a long time. Has a neat vintage, patina look, but still shoots and handles like a new rifle.

The old rifle stands "Cabin Front Porch Duty" tonight, dog and rifle on the lookout:

Nice model 94! The rabbit looks like a relative of the one in Monty Python and the Holy Grail .

I thought your 94 got into an argument with a real rabbit so I had to check your thread.

Aren't those nice old guns! I have a slip-on pad on mine to make it a bit longer, but other than that, it's box stock. These days my eyes don't see the sights very well, but I don't blame the 94 for that.

Do you handload for your rifle? It is something I intend to get started on, but have managed to keep putting it off, for some reason.

I used to handload for 30/30, but not so much now. I don't imagine I'll shoot hundreds of rounds a year through this rifle, so factory ammo should suffice. I do handload for my other lever rifles, Rossi 92's in .357 and .44 Magnum caliber. I do put hundreds of rounds a year through them.....

if you don't get a corn cob in that jug your white lighting is going to get away.

Nice looking Winchester, gotta love the m94 in 30/30! Great looking Lab, too!

I just picked up a m94 in 30/30 in a trade a couple of months ago. I've attached a couple of pics... It's a 1973 vintage, and looks like it hasn't been shot. I'll have to fix that problem soon... I've also got a nice model 94, in 30/30 from 1943/44. It's a very nice gun, and has the long-wood fore end.

Nice to see yours has a good home!

Very nice wood on that rifle for the period. Looks like you did very well. Congrats!

It's hard to beat a 30-30 for plinking, hunting or defense.

I like it and the dog. I got my last win94 30-30 from a pawn shop for $275. It had sat there for over a year and I made the offer on it. I have 6 of them. and they look a lot better with a little wear on them.
