Begin lol. Ok lets see where this goes. What is the Modern Jennings firearm today as far as bad .And un reliable.I did have a Jennings.22 for years. It wasnt flawless but I end up pretty much giveing it away when I bought my .32 . So who is the jennings of today?I will cast my vote soon

I have a pair of Cobra derringers in 9mm that I got cheap. I had to tune both extractors for decent reloading.
What I didn't like was the clunky manual safety. Absolutely vital, but VERY slow.

I redesigned the safety buttons to be spring loaded so they clicked off automatically when the hammer is cocked (I got the idea from an old Hawes 22 mag derringer).
In my mind, they are no longer bashing fodder.

Once bought a new Taurus .380. It was the last Taurus I will ever touch.

Indeed I bought the taurus .22 took to range same day. The slide blew of and pices everywhere. Packed it up dealer handed me another new one same day back to range. Same thing with in 50 rounds. Took back got a refund. Bought a .32 that been flawless with over 5000 threw it.I didnt buy the .32 at the same dealer being you would think he would say after 2nd there is a problem with them.He did have the same .32 I bought at other dealer

I had a Davis chrome .32 Derringer that was totally reliable and very easy to conceal but it was difficult to hit a pie plate at 20 feet especially since both barrels shot to a different point of aim. With that being said it still served a purpose at very close range and I had confidence in its reliability and stored it behind the ashtray compartment in my van where I doubt anyone could find it. I only paid about 43 bucks for it brand new in the early 1990s and was not too worried if something happened to it.

I had a Jennings 22, all I can say was when I pulled the trigger it went bang, and normally I could hit the target "somewhere" at 50 ft. Several of us have a "Jennings match" (pocket pistols) after our bullseye league is finished. I could pretty well count on most of my rounds being on paper, and the majority being is some scoring ring. We scored on the B3 target, 30 rounds and I could usually get over 200.

Deciding to really improve, I found a Beretta 21a and figured I should be able to shoot it much better. After 6 or 7 years I haven't found an ammo it likes yet. I can keep maybe 60% on the target at 50 ft. On good inspection I can just barely see rifling (on one side of the barrel, but not the other side). This gun will never be accurate. It is designated to join the few I will take to the next auction. Maybe I should buy another Jennings.

The above is posted on the New Firearms page of a local gun shop's web sight, a result of customer complaints about Jenning's pistols which they do have in stock from time to time. They also sell Highpoint pistols and concerning this brand they state it's the only sub 300 dollar pistol that one can expect to actually work well.

There are a dozen quality handguns selling for under $325, including two S&W pocket guns. Once you add transfer fees/shipping/tax, they do go over that mark, though.

The worst gun I've ever held was a chiappa 22lr derringer that a friend of my got huckstered into buying at a show for $100. He shot about 20 rounds before it basically fell apart.

I had a Jennings .22 pistol in the early 80s. It was a cheapo, but it worked fine. One of my jobs was as a bartender in a seedy place, and I had to close most nights. I carried the little Jennings in a nylon and velcro wallet in my back pocket. This was in Illinois, so there were at least a couple of felonies involved. I figured I would pitch the whole thing if I had to. I never had to, though, and the last I remember of that gun was shooting it in Minot ND when I was stationed there. I probably gave it to somebody. I wish I could say it was junk, but mine worked like a champ.

I had a Davis .22 derringer that was thrown in to make a trade work. I thought it was broken until I realized it had a 20 pound trigger pull. I gave it to a dog handler who was training his K9 to find guns.

Just a note on derringers: I have found that about 50% of center fire derringers will group both barrels with the same ammo! I have an American Arms (now Bond) 357 that I shoot a 38 Special non +P 158 gr LSWC in the top barrel and a 357 STHP 125gr in the bottom, it groups about 4" at 21' with this combo, should I reverse it, it is about a 34" group!

All of my Davis 32's like Win STHP's. The High Standard 22 Mag. & Davis require Federal product #757 (50 grain HP) this was developed for short barrel pistols and revolvers. (the 39 grain rifle ammo is terrible!)

I also have an American Arms DA (looks like a big High Standard) in 38 Special, in the 20 years I've had it I never found an ammo or a combo that would group at 7 yards (strictly a belly gun!)

In the early 80's a LGS owner/friend had an original Remington 41 RF. At 10 feet it would bounce off of most wooden objects!

I have more than one Taurus and they have all been fine - none have ever needed a trip back to the mothership.
If I had some of "those" friends they would have never let me buy them and I'd have missed out on some good guns purchased at some good prices. Same with a couple of Rossi revolvers I own.
Guess I'm just luckier than some - at least with guns.
