Default Ruger P95 and P97 - Glad I kept them

I am a big revolver guy, but I shoot many semi-autos. A few days a go I went to the range with my old Ruger P95DC (9mm) and P97DC (45ACP). I cannot express how much I am impressed with these old tech guns. I have owned 1911s that cost 4 times as much and all kinds of newer more expensive semi-auto pistol guns in 9mm and 45 ACP, but these old P-Series guns are just great guns. I am glad I didn't trade them away. I have a couple of 3rd gen S&W 6946s that likewise are just super. Maybe the 1990s was better than I thought it was.

I only have the P95 – and I couldn't agree more!! Very solidly engineered pistol in my opinion, and I only have 350 into it. It's also significantly lighter than my P94 ...

I still regret selling my stainless P95 back in 2003....fun gun to shoot and I never had a problem with it.

Default Ruger "P" series

I owned a P95 for several years. Put several thousand rounds through it; boringly reliable and adequately accurate. Gave it to my son about 3 years ago. It's ridden in his pickup glove box ever since, he's shot it a couple thousand times, it's been dropped in a stock tank, and fallen off the tool box onto a gravel road. He may have even cleaned it once; not sure of that. IMO, it's the definition of a "utility" pistol

P95 was my first gun. Two tone with decocker.

As a new gun owner I obviously sucked at shooting. One dayat the range I was getting a solid grenade like pattern when a few guys next to me saw me shoot. Turned out they were off duty cops. One guy came over and gave me his G26 to try. My grenade like pattern shrunk in half. Ended up getting rid of it a little bit later for something else. I've held a few since then and don't know how I even like it the first time. The grip is bad, trigger is horrible, sights we're lacking. I guess it wasn't a bad gun for when it came out originally but by the early 00s it certainly was lagging behind

Perfect example of YMMV. I snagged a two-tone 95DC last year for a giveaway price and it shoots great. I will agree that it needs better sights, but the trigger isn't as bad as all that, IMHO.

I like the P-series Rugers, and I have a soft spot for discontinued guns.

Just over a year ago, I bought this really nice P95DC for a whopping $179 before tax.

It has a 10 round mag with a BIG spacer at the bottom, and needed a tiny spring retention collar for the recoil rod. Ruger sent me one for free.

Gun shoots like a champ and looks great.

Here is a P90 that I got last year for $186 before tax. It is in almost perfect shape and is fun to shoot.

I have a KP-93. One of my favorites.
