My new Korth Mongoose
My 5.25" Korth finally arrived last week and I got it to the range yesterday. It feels terrific in my hand, and the action is the best I own. It is painless to shoot full load 357s (diabetes makes my skin thin on the inside of my thumb) it is certainly more accurate than I am and I will hopefully enjoy it for years to come before passing on to grandson.
I realize I could have purchased a couple more snakes or a few more S&Ws but I had the money so what the heck....so phooey to all you would-be naysayers who would denigrate my recent acquisition!

Nice gun, has a neat look to it. Had an early Korth .22, it shot better then I could shoot it. It was fun shooting knowing it had over 40 hours to assemble it and was the top end of precision in a gun. Not often you can buy and enjoy some of the finer things in life. Enjoy, Larry

Korth
I've heard the name mentioned from time to time as perhaps the most finely machined revolver ever. Good luck with it, enjoy the gun and don't worry about what others might think.

Glad to hear you're shooting it! Lots of these just get stored away as collectibles. Then what? The owner kicks the bucket and someone else either makes a buck or has all the fun!
When your grandson eventually gets your Korth, he'll have more than an awesome gun. He'll have something he can hold that will always remind him of the good times you both had together shooting it.
I hope you can share more pics. I'd love to see a bit more "under the hood".
Enjoy!
Jim

Who was it that said "you cannot take it with you" ?
I would get that grandson and teach him how to shoot it
you can be pretty confident that the Mongoose will be in
your family for many years to come.
You did good and so did your grandson.

Suhweet!
As a wheelgun fan who loves her "L" frames, I'll admit to drooling over the offerings from Korth and Manurhin. Got to be happy for anyone who brings home a gun on their wish list. Enjoy.

As a left handed, left eye dominant shooter, I have to respectfully disagree. The takedown button is located right where I like to ride my right thumb when shooting a revolver; left handed of course. This gun has been engineered as a right handed gun only in my opinion. To be truly ambidextrous, the takedown mechanism should have been recessed into the frame instead of sticking out as it does.
So as nice as it is, there is a wart on this fine gun.

Ralph7: the elephant was MSRP plus shipping.
Dbrown: I guess they figured reengineering the gun for 10 % of the worlds population wasn't worth it? I don't know. Besides, it's not a wort. It's a beauty mark.

Nice-looking revolver (resembles a S&W 586 at a quick glance) and there's no doubt it's a quality piece.

Hmm, I'm left handed too. The only hand that touches a pistol when I'm shooting is my left hand.
Guess it's just me....

I've never even seen a Korth in person, but they have a flawless reputation. I'm surprised in this day of bottom line and plastic, that something that is so well-made can be on the market. They are the Rolls-Royce of handguns. Good for you!

Absolutely flippin beautiful. I would much rather own a few top of the line guns than dozens of run of the mill guns. You did good and I am very jealous but happy it will have a home with your grandson.
Is a 9mm cylinder available for that model?

I'd buy the Korth before I would cough up nearly the same amount of money on a nice Python. I looked on GB last night and the Mongooses I found for sale there were running around $3500-3700.

For the a top of the heap 357 Revolver, the price is very comparable to the top of the line 1911s. For me, if I was able to spend that much, it would be spent on the Korth. Just my $.02 worth.

We need a range report! In the meantime I post one with mine with a 1971 Korth .357 Magnum to fill the void.
I went shooting with my youngest son yesterday and at age 26 he got the eyesight to perform! I took my sons shooting since they were very little and good practice pays.
He shot 10 at 25 meters in single action, this is the second group after he found out where to hold. He still prefers blasting with his Glocks and he has overtaken me in that department, too.

Wnwitzell--I believe that Nighthawk Custom of Berryville, Arkansas is collaborating with Korth on these revolvers. I don't know if Nighthawk is simply a distributor or if they are involved in the manufacturing/final fitting. I suspect the latter in that Nighthawk produces some of the finest 1911's made in America. Do you know what Nighthawk's involvement is with the gun?
Beautiful acquisition of what I am sure will become a family heirloom for generations.

Nighthawk is only selling the guns here. They are made in Lollar, Germany.

Sweet revolver, congrats! Would like to compare the quality/workmanship to one of my Freedom Arms someday.

Thank you for your post. I never heard of these and looked them up online. I think it is a great value compared to what some of the other models cost.
I've never had a chance to check one over and that might be a good thing. Otherwise, the wallet may be lighter! Best, TH

The Ratzeburg Korths from the 1970's and 80's certainly were. I own a couple.
The new models imported by Nighthawk are nice, but they aren't what they used to be. Of course, they're a good deal less expensive than a used Ratzeburg model, so its all relative.
To get the full experience, you need an older model though.

Sort of apples and oranges, but quality is comparable.
The Manurhin MR73 is in the mix as well. They are to the right.
