I've been trying for years to get my wife more interested in rifle shooting. Her first time was with a 1911 rifle conversion which left her with a big cut from the dust cover. The next was with my Romanian PSL in 7.62x54R. She handled it like a pro and shot like an expert, but it's a little too big, bulky, and rough shooting to make it hers. She says it's mine, which really means she's not so jazzed about it.
We have AR's in various configurations, but my rifle is a tank, and she has no interest in shooting the 15-22.
So, over years of prodding I finally found a configuration she liked.
This picture inspired hers:
Her only complaint was wanting it in green.
The receiver went on sale, I was gifted a match trigger, and found a light/laser in the trash (dead battery!)...so it seemed like a good time to put something together.
This is the result:

It's not the prettiest thing I've seen, but I do like it a lot. It's going to be a Christmas present. It still needs a bolt and I'm up in the air over putting a red dot on it.
It's a Gwacs Cav-15 MKII lower with a CMC 3.5lb single stage match trigger on a Palmetto State Armory 16" "pencil barrel" "Freedom" upper. The light/laser is a SigTac unit on a Magpul mount.
The sling is an amalgamation of a few pieces of other slings and had the most thought and work put into it. The rear keeper is an AT4 sling off a live rocket I fired. It was my field belt throughout my infantry service and I think has a good home here.
Hopefully she likes it as I sure as heck don't need another. The kid has been hassling about how much he likes getting guns for Christmas and wants his own "sniper" AR-15. He may be a little dissapointed this year! I'm all AR-15'd out.
