Default Remington R1 Enhanced

Hi,
Anyone have an R1 Enhanced? Remington has a pretty good rebate going on right now and I'm wondering if these versions are worth the $$. So, owners...do you like yours, are you glad you bought it, how do they compare with other production 1911s?

Thanks!

The R-1 is a good gun. I have not put many rounds through mine yet, but they are fine by all accounts.

I've been interested in the R1 Enhanced myself, but have yet to find one at any LGS. From the lack of listings on Gunbroker, and Armslist, seems as the people who have bought them, haven't decided to let them go yet..

It's one of the many 1911's I have. Great gun as it's very accurate and has a crisp trigger. The barrel and bushing is very tight. I actually have to use the wrench to take it down. Finish is excellent on it too.

Thanks, Wishbone

That was one of the ares of concern for me. I had heard the finish looks excellent, but that it wears fairly quickly. Not the case with yours?

Thanks again!

There was one on GB (auction ended) yesterday.
The 1911 R1 with polished slide custom grips beautiful engraving with gold inlay one of 500 factory new that went for $605.00 plus $35.00 shipping.
I KNEW I should of bid on it but I kept telling myself I Don't need another gun.
I feel like a idiot today. Now I have Non Buyers Remorse.

Did anyone else see that one?

There is currently a $100 rebate on them and I saw a dealer with them listed on the internet yesterday for $412 shipped including rebate.

Academy has the 1911 R1S on clearance. Not as fancy as the enhanced, and still $649 (then you do the rebate).

The finish is nice but I can't comment on how well it holds up. I don't carry governments only officers and commanders. I do like the look of a well worn blued 1911 after many years of holstering.

I do have an R1 E in SS (not the R1 that everyone seems to be quoting) and I really like it. It locks up nice and shoots pretty well - really loving the BT grip safety vs the old GI style. I bought mine last year for a little over $700 (no rebate) and have no regrets. With the rebate on, I keep getting tempted to get a Commander version but then spend my money on Shields and XDs due to those deals.

I had a "used" unfired NIB one that was 100%. Only problem was it had the threaded barrel and goal post sights to see over a suppressor. I sold it with the intentions of buying another without the tb and tall sights but never found what I wanted.

I have owned an R1 Enhanced for several years and have found it to be a well built, reliable, and accurate 1911. I have run countless rounds from various manufacturers as well as my handloads without any issues. Getting an R1 will be a purchase that you will not regret.

I've had good luck with mine other than some light reloads. There's nothing wrong with the factory grips but I decided to go with a set of Pachmeyer's
