Updated, Pics Added - Savage 1915 Help
HELP!!! I just bought a really nice Savage 1915 pistol. These are relatively rare. Looks like it hasn't been shot much. My problem is this - I can't for the life of me figure out how to disassemble it. The instructions for the 1907 and 1917 do not work for the 1915. With the slide locked back, via the proper magazine, the breech block refuses to rotate like it is supposed to. It these some secret trick I am missing? Perhaps it has something to do with the grip safety? I'm desperate here.
A search of the internet did turn up one video of a 1915 disassembly, but it is not helpful. I know this is a S&W forum, but most of us have interests beyond just S&W. I am hoping someone smarter than me can take pity and share their knowledge with me.

"....With the slide locked back, via the proper magazine, the breech block refuses to rotate like it is supposed to...."
IIRC the magazine must be removed from the gun.
Then the slide pulled all the way back and held there while your rotate the safety lever to the 'Safe' position.
That will lock the slide into position for TD.
Then the breech block can be rotated 90* (clockwise I think it is) and pulled out to the rear of the slide.
Then hang on to the slide and release the safety...the slide will now be under the recoil spring tension so don't let them fly forward.
Then let the slide, recoil spring and bbl off the front of the frame.
The slide hold open arm will be free to fall out of the forward part of the frame after the slide and bbl are off, so don't loose that. It simply sits in a groove on the right hand side. Put it back in place for reassembly.
The large lug on the back edge of the bbl sits in the cutout in the frame when you go to reassemble. Slide the bbl into the spring and that into the slide and onto the frame. Pull it back and lock it with the safety again.
When you go to put the breech block back in you'll have to depress the sear bar on the bottom of the assembly to get it to go into the slide. Then turn it the 90* to lock it in position,,release the safety to run the slide forward and close the breech. Reinsert the mag and you're back in biz.
I haven't had one of the Savage pocket pistols in my hands for many years but this is what I recall the TD system for the '15 hammerless is.

There's a Savage forum on 24hourcampfire. If you can't figure it out, those guys will walk you through it.
Is it a 32 or 380?
I have 1907s and 1917, but haven't yet lucked into a 1915. That's a good catch!

Sometimes I have found that when I get frustrated about something that is not going like I think it should the best thing to do is just walk away from it for a while. Come back with a clear head and fresh outlook. This was one of those times.
The instructions and videos are correct except for one very small detail. The instructions are to lock the slide back and the breech block will rotate. Not entirely true. The slide must be fully retracted before the breech block will release. That is not where the slide locks. The slide will retract about 1/8" or so beyond the locked position. The slide must be held in that position before the breech block will release. Then it will release easily.
This requires what is sometimes described as the "armorers grip" to accomplish. The recoil spring is very heavy on this gun and I don't have the hand strength to do it any more. However if the gun is pressed downward with the slide pressed against the hard edge of a bench or table, padded of course, then you can to fully retract the slide one handed.
I should have realized this earlier, because I have a Beretta 85 that requires the same action in order to order to rotate the takedown lever on reassembly. Sometimes it takes more than once to teach an old dog a new trick.

Its a .32. I think I got lucky on this one. See the pics and tell me what you think.
The pictures don't do it justice. It looks nicer in hand.

Very nice, loaded chamber indicator as well!
Glad you got it figured out. Walking away is the best course of action. Bad things usually happen when you don't. The calibre marking should be on the top of the slide.
