I have High Standards but couldn't say no
I couldn't even haggle.
All I could do was say I'll take it.

$165 plus tax. I've got a couple HS's but that one would have followed me home if I saw it.
It looks like the grips are stipled. Any other modifications?

Hi Reddog81 & Wetherby,
I would have gone higher if I had to! I have two that are older then dirt & STILL shoot well! The first one is a 106 that was used at West Point!
Good Luck with it!

That is so nice, and what a great deal. I am always on the
lookout for "new" H. S.'s" to add to the group. I've gotten
rid of many .22 auto's, (Ruger's, Browning's, and yep, S&W's,)
but I have never gotten rid of any of my High Standards.
All have appreciated in value more than the others, except
for the 41, but that's not the important issue with me.

Last weekend at a outdoor sale I ran into a old gentleman that
had a minty HD-Mil with 2 extra clips for $450 and he wouldn't
budge. I could kick myself in butt for not buying it. At the time
I was busy buying, trading and flipping guns to get a 52 S&W
and was afraid to blow my roll in case I had to buy the 52. Once
I safely had the 52 I made several laps around the sale and the
guy was nowhere to be found.

Do you mean the front and back strap on the gun ?
They are but I believe that is factory.

Paul, that stipulating is factory. You got a great one. I was at an auction Sat. and one with a 6" barrel went for $600. This was a large estate sale, and there were 5 or 6 High Standards, (Only 1, 107 size). Several of the others were in the $200 to $300 range. I've got a 5" Victor, Hamden gun, that I've shot in competition since mid 80's.

Thanks about the clarification.
I have a few of the H.S guns now.
The sport king I used to shoot as a kid.
Then a victor I waited 25 years to finally fulfill the want.
A very old field king equipped with Davis sights and now this one.
I liked the Citations they are just normally way out of my price range.
This one was a no brainer giveaway.
I didn't even pick the gun up just said I'll take the High standard.
I really don't think it was used much at all.......It will be.....maybe even today.

Can't go wrong.
Have an old Citation M107 that will shoot rings around anything out there. Best shooting .22 I have ever owned.
Love the old HS's.
Great find

I grew up shooting a High Standard revolver bought new in 1959. Still have it. You could hit snake and turtle heads out at the lake all day long. Had to come back the next day to see the bodies floating to know how many you got.

Great pistol. I have the Supermatic Trophy with the 7 1/4" fluted barrel that I used back in my bullseye days. Still got it. Great buy on that Citation. Enjoy.

Such sweet shooters. I swore to myself, about 10 years ago, I would not buy any more but they seem to keep following me home, too. I know that dilemma well. Of them there are 3 Giles High Standards and several other, factory original, High Standards.
They are all sweet !
A few years back I purchased a set of gorgeous Roper Grips for a pre and post war slant grip HS, just haven't found a HS of those few models in nice enough condition that the Ropers would fit to place them on.

Love 'em too.
I'm particularly fond of the H-S Olympic .22 short pistols. Great backyard fun!
One day I'd like to get one of the 10" space guns in .22 short. They're out there, priced space high...
Best wishes everyone,
Roger aka Mr. Wonderful

You can add me to the HS club.
Shot a 107 Citation in my Army days long ago.
Few years back, aquired this Hamden 106 Citation from Eugene.
Now shooting it regularly in club matches.
Purists will scream, but I prefer High Standards to the Model 41.

A model 106 was the first gun that I bought when I started to get serious about bullseye. If I remember correctly it had a brass color bullet shape on the bottom of the back strap. Long gone, I guess sometime around when I bought my model 41. Still have a Sport King that was my Dad's.

The summer of 1954 I worked as a surveyor's assistant and by the end of the summer I had enough money to spend $75 on a Hi Standard Supermatic like this one. It is the model that has the two oval holes on each side of the front sight as a muzzle brake. It taught me competitive shootign. I traded my original gun for the S&W 41 that I still have, sometime in the late 50s. I couldn't do without one and when I saw this one a a gun show it came home with me.

Several years ago a buddy of mine put me in touch with Bob Shea, he was with High Standard for many years and he was a gunsmith with them until the factory shut down around 1984. For a long time I had quite a collection of HS pistols and used them in .22 indoor matches....very accurate guns!
Bob was still living only a few minutes from the old factory and I was in the Seattle area. We spoke on the phone often and he would give me tips on adjusting the mags when they gave me issues with feeding.
Bob would was at the Camp Perry matches every year and he would help the teams get their guns in top shape including adjusting those pesky mags! Since there were no feed ramps on the guns, the mags had to be tuned just right for consistent function. And when they were right, these guns were tack drivers!!!
I had not spoke with Bob for quite some time, since I was moving to AZ and just too damn busy with life to shoot much......but a few months ago I called his home number and it had been disconnected.
Doing some research, I came across his obituary.....
ROBERT SHEA Obituary - North Haven, CT | New Haven Register
Congrats on your purchase of a fine pistol!!!

I was sorry about hearing Bob had passed away. I spoke with him a few times and sent my Victor to him once and he went through it and tuned it up and put all new springs in. He was quite a guy, he was the "THE" gunsmith at High Standard that built their limited edition Ten-X based on the Citation model.

Richard, The 10X was always on my HS "Most Wanted" list, but I eventually sold off my HS collection to purchase other types of firearms.
Bob was definitely THE MAN for all things High Standard!!
