I can imagine how nice it must have been to be one of the police departments to carry the "new" Police Positive Special (1st year). The Meriden CT PD issued 20 of them to their agency in 1908 ( the year they were introduced) in .38 Special. The department had the officer's initials factory inscribed on the butt.
Mine was carried by Lt. John J. McGovern and is marked "McG". (There were two officers with the same initials (JJM). So, McGovern's gun was marked "McG" and J.J.McCarthy's was marked "McC"!
