I know this is a S&W forum, but some very smart folks can be found here.

Is anyone here knowledgeable about Carl McCallister. He was the original owner of the gun shop and museum. I purchased a Savage 1915 that came from his collection and am trying to do a little research on it. I was told he was one of, if not the largest Savage collector in the country.

From a quick search, Mr. McAllister passed away in 9/2012 but at that time the shop was still open. It is now listed as permanently closed. You may want to try calling the local Chamber of Commerce to see if anyone can be contacted regarding the business, it was in a pretty small town and his family may still be in the area. Hope this is helpful.

I pass through there several times a year and as Murphydog said it is no longer open. The last time I was in there, maybe four years ago it wasn't worth the stop. Kind of a junky place with nothing much to speak of in the way of firearms or museum pieces. I was never in there during its peak. It may have been great at one time but that was not my experience.

Sad that the shop is closed now. I've been to the old shop with my brother.
It was on Carl's place out in the country. At that time Carl had about 1500
guns that weren't up for sale. I wouldn't even guess how many lever action winchesters he had. Carl kept a Thompson for his behind the counter gun. When we had brothers funeral Carl did escort duty for us.
Good guy who is missed. HDHIC aka cliff
