Canik TP9-SF Elite. Have been curious about them, read lots of great reviews, and so after holding one, looking it over, testing the amazing trigger, I pulled the trigger. Taking to the range tomorrow. This will be mostly a range gun, though I might find myself carrying it now and again, who knows.
For a 15+1, Warren tactical sights, great trigger, and all the extras that come with it, it is $400 well spent.

Canik have taken the Walther 99 design a long way and at an affordable price. Good plan. Look forward to the range report.

I have seen recent reports of failure to cycle, with the explanation that the springs are designed for NATO loads (124g at 1,050 f/s muzzle velocity?), which are a bit hotter than plinking ammo. Other than that, everything I've seen has been positive about the gun, especially the trigger.

Yeah I've read about that. I usually only use 147 gr, some 124. I have a few boxes of 115 I'll try first to see if I get any failures. But I think they've addressed the issue anyway and changed the RSA to better utilize all types of ammo.

Can you change them back? I prefer my 9mm pistols to shoot as proper 9mm's.

Well, back from the range. Just finished cleaning 3 guns I took.
Canik report: shot wonderfully. Very easy to shoot, easy to get on target. Sighted in pretty quickly. Ran 1 box of Remington green 115 grain. Flawless.
Loaded 2 mags of Freedom Munitions 147 gr RN NEW ( not reman). Every other round stovepiped or failed to load. I didn't even finish the second mag before I popped out the mag and removed this ****. I have used Freedom new and reman many many times and have never experienced this. So, either this was a bunk box of ammo, or the actual reverse happened with this gun in that it likes 115 instead of 147. Plus these Freedom rounds felt really weak, like they didn't charge them with enough powder.
So I will try another brand of 115 gr on my next trip, and I have some Browning ammo leftover I will try too. But really shocked that the 115 was the best so far in this gun.

I own firearms from quite a few countries but nothing from Turkey yet. Read lots of good reviews on the Canik though.

As far as your issue with the Freedom ammo, I'm not all that surprised. I've heard so many bad things about it that I have always just avoided it like the plague. I suspect if you took some similar ammunition from one of the big name manufacturers (Federal, Winchester, Remington, etc.) you will have better results.

It is... a little Walther, a little Ruger, a little CZ.
Feels great in the hand. A little heavy (28 oz unloaded) but the extra weight in the slide really reduces felt recoil. I want to run some +P in it and see how it feels.
