I was on the road, when this thread notified me of the recall. I just submitted my request a couple of days ago.

If it wasn't for the free magazine, I might not have bothered.

I had to send mine in for repair and thought I may as well have them do the recall work.

My barrel came loose from the receiver and accuracy went to &ell.

My 25 year old MKII and 10 year old MKIII standards are all I'll ever need. Never, fortunately, had any desire to buy a MKIV

Mine came back the other week - trigger feels "ever so slightly" better as the creep is gone, and the final let-off is crisper. Pull is about the same, so very happy with it.

In all, I lost the use of one of my guns for a couple of weeks and it is safer now. No big deal.

I may be admitting my ignorance here, but my question is; as the old adage goes " if it ain't broke don't fix it ". Ruger has not changed the basic firing system if their .22 pistol since 1949( with the exception of the MKIII magazine safety) and it has obviously been a phenomenal success. So why would Ruger decide to "play" with success, and screw it up while they were at it re; the MKIV. Is the traditional trigger-disconnector-sear-hammer-safety arrangement (safety in particular) required to be changed because of the MKIV tale-down design ??

Update - my "fixed" Mark IV 22/45 was in the USPS mail yesterday (20 July). No prior notification that it was coming.
It has the promised extra mag and a "Dear Customer" letter, no other goodies.

I feel for the new MK IV owners that would have to pay somebody to do all that!
I installed the VQ accurizing kit in my MK IV Hunter model before knowing of the recall. I found out that if you send your Ruger back to VQ with the factory parts that were removed, they will reinstall the factory parts, send the gun to Ruger to perform the recall, then reinstall their accurizing kit for $100.
That is the route I chose.
I sure wasn't going to do, undo, redo all that again.

Ruger received my MK IV 22/45 Lite on 7/7 and I got it back 7/21 with recall performed. No prior notice either. I think they could have sent an email with a tracking # to give us a heads-up.
Everyone is supposed to receive a free mag for their "trouble".

Default 100th Anniversary WBR MK IV Comp - send it in for recall fix, or leave it untouched?

Dilemma with moderately sized horns, upon which I am stuck.

Do I send a pristine, NIB, limited edition firearm to Ruger to be "fixed",
or do I leave it alone?
It may go up for adoption at some point the future.
Would another Ruger aficionado balk at purchasing this firearm because it
might be considered sullied?

First of all, limited edition was I believe 1,000 units which to me is not limited.
I don't think it matters if you have recall performed or not. It can always be done by a future owner if you don't feel like it.

I would. I'd think it'd help the resale value, seeing as the work has already been done n' all.

I'd let Ruger do the upgrade. Selling point is the gun is safer with the recall work done.

I sent mine in for the recall and to have a new barrel. My barrel was coming loose when cleaning. Other then shipping, Ruger only had the gun ONE day for the repairs and then sent it back to me.

I think their Customer Service is superb.

Yeah I agree.

While I don't think the guns are necessarily unsafe as they are, it would ultimately be more safe and any future buyers might get the warm n' fuzzy by seeing that cute little "S" in the white dot safety.

I bought a new MK IV Lite. Only bought it because I finally received my government papers for my .22 suppressor and needed a threaded barrel to start the fun. My Browning Buckmark, that I have had for a long time is not threaded so I had to make a move.

Little did I know that I bought a pistol that is under recall, grrrrrr. Have fired the new one a few times and it ran perfectly. The only thing is that I nearly needed two fingers to pull the trigger. Going to need a Volquartsen kit to make it shootable for my purposes. There is goes another $120.00, again grrrrrr.

Should have just bought a Tactical Solutions threaded barrel for my old Buckmark .22 and called it a day.

This is the second new Ruger purchase in a row that I have been disappointed in. I may be sort of over them for a while till they get their act together.

Just wanted to add a couple of points of for info to those who have not returned their frames yet.

1) Given my (2) frames had been upgraded with Volquartsen parts already, I had to tear them down prior to sending them in for rework. However, rather than rebuild the frame again , I just dumped all the factory internal parts into a bag and included it for them to rebuild. ( I retained the grips, grip screws and mag)I'm thinking it saved us both some labor.

2) It took about 9 days from mailing them out to receiving them back. ( I got the notice/invoice that they had been received at 7 days.
As an aside, I sent my Volquartsen sears in for modification the same day and just got word they have shipped back. Good timing!

3) The frames arrived in as new condition with the new free mags installed.
It's of no matter to me as I'll be installing my (modified) Volquartsen parts in again but the trigger feels worse than ever. A bit heavier and ALLOT of creep. Almost makes me want to get the stones out to improve the trigger without aftermarket parts but that's a new story.

Hope this is of value to someone going forward.

I didn't read every post in this thread but just skimming I see a lot of doubters. It's a fine pistol and the recall didn't mean much to me...Smith has had their share. Ruger turned mine in a week and even removed the right side safety at my request, they didn't have to do that but no problem. Impressed with how they took care of me. And think what you will but the new field strip is a fine piece of engineering.

Tip of the hat to the other great American gun maker!

Took about a week to get the return box. Got the "fixed" pistol back in 4 days, (I live in AZ). Pretty good customer service. That extra mag. is nice to have too!
