What a neat old gun. I especially like the short triggers with the arched mainspring housings on these 1911s. It just looks like this gun might have a story or two to tell if it could talk.

I had one of those, marked Super Match, but with the fixed sights. Not very accurate or consistent, probably because they didn't make the barrels then for the round to headspace on the case mouth.
But it had the slickest action that I've ever encountered on an auto pistol.

Geez, now you gone and done it...
I gotta get a towel out and wipe the drool off my monitor. A 38 Super is on the short list these days.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
This old slab-sided piece of Americana has been so well received that I decided this morning to post photos of my early post-WW2 Super .38 Auto: http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/...c-63126-a.html
They make an interesting comparison.

Truly a beautiful 1911. While my 1911's are all 45 ACP, that sure makes me want to find a 38 Super and do a little shooting. Thanks for sharing it.
