Default New pony, and question for 1911 enthusiasts

Got a new Colt Defender 45.

Ran 70 rounds of FMJ 230 grain. Went bang every time. Zero malfunctions. This is my second Defender and it seems Colt knows how to make the 3 inch 1911 work well.

One question: twice I got a brass to the face/head. A few times a shell hit my right ear muff. The extractor tension is on the looser side, but it will lightly hold a live round inside the slide. If I shake the slide the round will fall out.

Is this something you would try to fix, or just leave it alone and carry it as long as it feeds reliably? I don't want to try and fix what isn't broken, and make things worse. Thoughts?

Just shoot the **** out of it and it should correct itself after few hundred rounds.

Needs fixing.

Getting hit in the face with hot ejected cases is a great way to develop a flinch.

Any competent gunsmith can do it in less than 15 minutes.

Pull the extractor most of the way out of the slide and put a bit more tension on it.See if that solves it.
