My First Colt
Bought an old Colt revolver today, I think it's some kind of gunfighter's piece:
Picked it up this morning from a fellow forum member, whitecoyote, who's got an older thread with info and photos of it here: Colt Army Special "Fitz Special"
Spent the afternoon fitting a set of vintage micarta grips for it as the cut-down stockers (the gun's grip frame has been shortened about 1/3 inch) were pretty rough. Next I'll fix that one buggered screw and then call it good. Now I've got to do some internetting and get some books and learn about Colts and Fitz models.

I love it!!
Get ready for the inevitable hand-wringing about the cutaway trigger guard. Personally I love it, and would gladly carry that old boy in harm's way just as it is.

Kind of looks like an old modified Detective Special like my 1951 model. I'd carry it in a heartbeat. Just like my old High Standard 22 magnum derringer. Unless the trigger has been messed with, it is not that easy to pull.

Congratulations on the purchase. I've played with that gun myself. It has been modified "just right" and has great character.

Man, that is the ugliest revolver I've ever seen. Will give you...just kidding, nice! Shame that they moved away from the big boy revolvers years ago. Just got an Officer's model, beat up but a workhorse. And the logo...I am Mr. Ed!
