This OP started life with a 6" barrel, shipped on Dec 16, 1960 to Army and Air Force Exchange
Service O.S.E 903-MB New York, New York. Exchange Officer, APO 23, in a 2 Gun Shipment.
Some time in it's life, it ended up with a bulged barrel and in the care of a Gunsmith friend outside
of Mt Vernon, Ohio.
Whoever brought the gun in, left it, and never returned. In 2008, I Purchased it cheap, and had
the Gunsmith cut the barrel down to around 3 inches, and install a crude front sight. However, I
was never happy with the way the gun looked. After several years, I acquired a 4" nickel barrel
and got in line at Cylinder & Slide. A process with wait time and barrel installation that took over
a year.
The revolver needed some minor mechanical repair ( timing) which was done while at Cylinder & Slide.
A few weeks back it came home to me, I had planned on having it re-nickeled, but was told by C&S
they no longer offered that service. It has some flaws in the nickel, which are hard to see in the photos.
But its a pretty nice example of a early 60"s OP
