Default Magpul MBUS Sights Unreliable

I put Mapgpul MBUS polymer sights on my AR. The rear sight works fine. The front sight would not pop up by depressing the left side tab. Magpul asked me to return the sight for inspection despite the fact that I sent them a video showing the issue. They agreed it was defective and sent me a replacement.

I installed the replacement today and I have the exact same issue. I have yet to contact Magpul, but are any of you finding these sights to be unreliable junk?

You think?
We had a guy pass his AR around with those sights and some really good offhand shooters were trying like Heaven to make hits on 6" plates at 100 yards. I found them sloppy and imprecise. They look like a railroad spike inside a picture frame.
I personally have Troy sights. They came on my upper. I think they are nice enough. If I were irons only I'd look into their HK style micro sights. That would really drop the height above bore making the gun shoot a little bit flatter.

I use a red dot so these are only backup sights. I still want them to function as advertised though.

I have the rear sights only mounted on two ARs. I have the A2 front sights and they are an absolute co-witness with my Red Dots. They work fine, but I have no experience with the front MBUIs.

I have a set on a medium range scoped AR as backup sights. They work just fine for me.

Both the plastic and steel version of Magpul's MBUS sights work very well if the operator knows how to use them correctly. They are mounted on literally hundreds of thousands of MSR's with few if any serious documented problems. Great for close up encounters where MOA accuracy is not needed, shooting prairie dogs at 300yd., not so much.

I prefer the steel version as they appear to be a bit more durable.

I have two rifles with the MBUS. They all work except for this front site and the one it replaced.

This time Magpul's official response was to put CLP on it! There's some "customer service" I can't get behind. LOL
