Default Colts need rescuing too!!

ATTN: Colbybruce et al.

I'm back!

This old girl found its' way to my house today. I actually bought the gun AND the story.

A small gun shop in a town I was in today for a training class yielded this 1936 Colt Official Police. It is a very interesting one. The refinish is a very old job. Someone added a lanyard ring at some point. The hole for the ring is cut through the factory marking "M.P.D." on the butt.

The shop owner took the gun on consignment from an elderly widow of a police officer who died several years ago in his 80s. The stocks were apparently in "bad shape". So, they replaced them w/ Altamonts. ( I put a period correct set of originals on as soon as I got it home.)

The sticker was $325. I left with it @ $225 OTD.

It might have several stories to tell!

Best,
Charles

I have someone similar. A 1936 I believe. No lanyard ring but definitely used.....A LOT! And missing that end piece on the extractor rod as well!

That OP is a little sweaty, but the price was right. I almost never see nickeled OPs.
