I just picked this 29-3 up from my FFL today. I wiped it down and installed a wonderful set of Culina smooth Cokes in American Holly.

Here's some 629s.
First up, a pinned and recessed "no dash" - really hard to find. It dates from September, 1981.
Next, an 8 3/8" with the barrel rib milled for scope mounting. These 629-1s were made only in 1988 and 1989, only 4,810 of them. This one dates from August, 1988.

I just have this 29-2, a birth year gun for me from 1973. It's sitting back in my safe in the states.

No explanation needed at all for choppin' the barrel on that one. Even if the barrel wasn't bulged, imo.

Thanks. I did it with hand tools and re-used the original front sight after cutting it loose and shaping a tenon out of the remaining material. Tedious.
It hasn't come loose yet, and is accurate to me. If you looked at it closely you could see its a little crude but I got what I paid for!
