They're the rage in Michigan as they recently became legal for deer hunting in the southern lower peninsula. I'm getting one!

A modern interpretation of the 45-70 according to these guys. American Rifleman | Tested: The .450 Bushmaster Ruger American Rifle Ranch

It's a very light rifle and the recoil is described as "exciting" despite the recoil pad and muzzle brake.

A friend and I were looking at one. I already have 4 various 45-70's, he has one. We looked up ballistics and decided there wasn't enough difference to make it worth while. How ever an AR-15 in 450 B. would be very interesting!

The factory ammo gives an edge to normal 45-70 and the Hornady has a lot more energy! This may have to do with AR plastic and heavy recoil. The bolt actions should handle some sort of +P load!

Interesting! I've got a 20" Bushmaster AR15 in .450 Bushmaster and love it! It's quite the thumper! The recoil is similar to a .20ga shotgun, is very accurate and just overall fun to shoot. I've been hankering to use it on a bear hunt one of these days.
