I don't think the Bomar type base will completely cover the the machined cut out in the rib. An outfit by the name of Wichita, IIRC, used to make a Bomar type that would completely cover the slot for the Elliason sight once the machine work was done. They are long out of production I believe. I'm not up on the latest Bomar types, but were I looking, I'd probably contact Kensight, Dawson,etc. I once saw a photo of a GC with a Bomar rear with a metal filler to fill in the slot in the rib forward of the Bomar.
BTW, been there, done that with the GC sights. I tried everything too. Most effective solution for me was a piece of music wire same diameter as the factory pin, cut to length, with a slight bend in the middle. Not perfect, buy most effective for me in several GCs. Had a later GC with the Bomar type rear. Sure made life a lot easier.
