Default Front sight on Uberti .45 & Heritage .357

I bought a .357 revolver off Heritage, thru Bud's, and had to send it back to factory because the barrel was off about 1/8". Front sight was visibly off. Anyways, I bought a Uberti .45 cattleman, and it shoots about 2ft. low at 25 yards. (Gun was used). Any how, in the paperwork for the Heritage it says you have to file down front sight until you get it to shoot straight, elevation-wise. Is this also true with the Uberti? It shoots straight but way low. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance. Jeff Taylor, Pgh, PA (The LGS where I bought it said it looked ok. but I can lay a long thin screwdriver across the rear V sight and the flat of the driver hits about 1/8" below top of front sight.)

Yes, that is the solution for elevation. With so many of the guns being used for SASS cowboy shooting with 700 fps ammo you have to do some work owning one. All the Italian clones I have, (and the Ruger's also) shoot to the sights with the mild cowboy ammo! 45's, 357's and 44-40's (and the 44 Russians do too, but that cartridge is slow at full power) That seems to be the target market.

IT could be worse, all those Colt 1917's the government paid good money for, Colt didn't regulate the sights! (S&W did!), They threw them is a box and shipped them! So hit, some didn't, the armorers got to deal with it!

Find your favorite load for your revolver and file the sight to just a bit high "about an inch" at your range of choice, letting it a bit high will help with faster loads and lighter weight bullets and such.

Tape up the barrel around the front sight to prevent an errant file stoke from hitting the barrel, this will protect your finish, don't ask me how I now this! File a bit at time and don't get into a hurry and file too much off too fast, once again don't ask me how I know this!
