Drop-in conversion .40 to 9mm non S&W
Made an offhand remark to a friend a couple days ago about maybe one day converting my G23 to 9mm. Next day he shows up with a Wheaton 9mm conversion barrel and a G19 magazine in a little bag, hands it over and says, "here, try this out".
So yesterday I hit the range and gave it a try. I have to say I'm impressed in every way. Fit, finish, and function all flawless.
I ran 150 rds of a mixed bag of 9mm ammo through it. HSM 124 gr. fmj, some 124 gr Gold Dots, and some Rem/UMC 115 gr. Not a single hiccup or hint of a problem. All functioned perfectly.

I have had no issues in 300+ rounds through my G23 with a 9mm ILMG barrel. Lots of different 115gr fmjs including steel cased along with both 124+p and 147+p HST
I'll end up getting a 357 barrel eventually

I have two Glock 23s that were converted to 9mm and 357SIG. The 23/9 has tens of thousands of rounds through it without malfunctions, besides the LW barrel and G19 magazine, it also has a 9mm extractor and plunger.

I am a strong advocate of pistols that can be converted to use different calibers. I have a 1911 which can be used for .22 LR, 9mm, .38 Super, .400 Cor-Bon, and .45 ACP, plus an EAA Witness for 9mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP. Both will also handle 9x23 Win, 9mm Largo, and 9mm Steyr with the .38 Super barrel in place. I have no fondness for the .40 S&W or the 10mm, so I don't worry about those two. Also with the 9x23, no need for the .357 SIG.

I first got a G26 (9mm), then a G27 (40 S & W) and a G22 (40 S & W). Converted both of the 40 cals to 357 Sig. Love the cartridge! Better accuracy, no difference in recoil and 357 ammo is actually cheaper than 40 S & W, if you look around. Just bought a 9mm barrel for my G27 and sold my G26 for EDC. I have found the 357 available here in a mid-sized farm town at several shops!

The last time I purchased 40 I paid $9 per 50 shipped for Remington UMC 180gr and I refuse to pay more than $11 per 50 shipped for brass cased 40. Where are you finding 357 Sig for less than 40?

I was well pleased with the results here. The opportunity to try out the conversion barrel was unexpected. It worked out nicely. I'll probably have to buy one of my own some time.
