Default Kahr K9

Stopped in my local Gander Mountain and their going out of business prices have finally gotten to a point where they make sense. They had several used Kahr K9s with pricing 50% off the listed price of $599.99.

The actions of all the guns were gummy and dirty - they must have been sitting for a long time. I picked out a lightly used one with faded night sites. $325 OTD. They only come with one mag and no box, but still a good deal. When I get it home I'll blast it clean then re-lube it and take it to the range.

These guns haven't been in the counter long. It makes me wonder what else GM is going to find on their back shelves.

For those of you unfamiliar with the K9, it is an all stainless steel compact single stack 9mm. a little smaller than a 3913, but a little heavier too due to the all steel construction. DOA trigger that is smooth and light with about 1/2" travel. No stacking. Grips are a little smaller than a 3913. A great gun to take someone with smalls hands to the range with, but I can handle it OK with my big mitts too.

They've taken a back seat in the Kahr lineup to the polymer frame guns, but they are well made, reliable, soft shooting and easily concealable guns.

Can't post pics yet because this state requires a 72 hour wait time. Will post when freed.

Congratulations on a fine gun at a heck of a price. I know I really like my K40.

Nice gun. Several years ago I had two toned K9 but sold it.

Congrats on a nice score! I've been a Kahr fan for a long time. I feel I likeI have the best of both worlds with my PM9, a smooth revolver-like trigger and the slightly higher capacity of a semi-auto. It's never failed me. I have been wanting an MK9 just because they are such nice quality but unfortunately redundant in my line-up. The CM/CW series Kahrs are a tremendous value. IMHO, the CM380 is the best ultra compact .380 around.

Congratulations. Sounds like a good one.

I had never considered a Kahr until recently when I found a CW45 at the LGS for what I considered to be an inexpensive price. <$300.00. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but I liked the way it felt and such.

Itchy picked out a CW45 to replace her 642 for CCW. I was impressed enough with her gun that I bought one too.
I used the excuse that we needed to have interchangeable reloads in case we got into a serious social encounter.

She bought a CW9 too, but I haven't caught up with her yet.

A wee bit off topic - but I found a NIB Kimber Micro Carry .380 at the local GM last month. I asked them if they had any in the back and sure enough he brought it out with a tape-sealed box. Methinks Kimber lists them at 599-ish retail - GM had it marked down to $437. Back on topic - my CM9 can't be replaced. Absolutely zero problems although the round count is still low. Good catch to find an all-metal version!!

The K9's are fantastic guns that are very under appreciated. I carry mine daily.

I have my late father's K9... a very early one... has been a great pistol its entire life... it was fun doing the originally recommended break-in procedure... not sure they call for it any more... but when they came out they suggested breaking it in with hot European sub-gun 9mm loads... if I remember it was 250 rounds to seat the springs... rough day at the range but it worked...

Nice guns gents.

I picked up the K9 last night and gave it a good cleaning. Here it is with its E9 sibling:

It's in pretty nice shape and hasn't been used much (not that it matters with these guns). Some light scuffing from holster carry. Nights sites still have some life in them too.

The E9 is a 1st gen economy gun from the late 90s I believe. More blocky (or Glocky) slide and pinned front site. Still has polygonal rifling.

The E9 has nylon grips instead of the rubberized ones on the K series guns. I actually think I like the nylon grips better - they aren't as sticky to clothes, and recoil is a non issue with these 9 mms.
