Will you BUY the hype?
The 5th Generation of the Glock is to be released in 8 days.
Will you buy one?

What's different? I just bought a Gen 3 not too long ago because it was $150 less than a Gen4. Will Gen 4 prices drop as a result?

IMO, Glock produces a fine product. My G22 and G19 are both excellent service pistols that have given me zero issues.
However the Gen 5 just seems to incorporate a few much needed updates like an reversable mag release, removable backstraps and no finger grooves. (This may not be the full list of new features. I'm really not sure).
Beyond that, I'm not seeing a feature-rich pistol that will have me pulling out my wallet to buy one.
That being said, it's a Glock. People will flock to it because it's a Glock. I may buy one in the future if it suites my needs.

Glocks are nothing fancy or classy, they work, come in many calibers, demonstrate field accuracy, are easy to work on with lots of aftermarket accessories and you never see price gouging because they can be found anywhere guns are sold.

Despite being a just shy of a Glock fan boy and owning close to a dozen Glocks I will not be running out to buy the gen 5.
The gen 5 deletes the finger groves, which is great for those whos fingers don't quite fit. It adds a ambidextrous slide and mag release. I believe it adds front serrations as well but can't remember for sure.
I'm perfectly fine with my older Glocks and don't see a need nor do I have desire to buy another. If one should show up on the used gun market for a reasonable price I may consider it

I have a bunch of handguns, but no Glocks. I doubt that is going to change in the intimidate future!

Glocks may well be great tools, but I've never owned one and don't believe I ever will.

Own Glocks but don't shoot them as well as my Shield, M&P Compact and M&P9 FS.
I most likely will never own one but I'd wait to see what issues will arise.
Maybe I'm just a S&W fanboy.

I own about 8 Glocks in various generations. To me,no generation stands out as "better",so I have no bias in that respect. They have all performed flawlessly. If I came across any generation Glock in 10mm (full frame size)I would buy one, including a Gen 5,as I have a need for one. The only S&W autoloaders I currently own are rimfires, and that will never change.

No Glocks.
I prefer my pistols to have steel frames and slides and a hammer.

I have no qualms about buying a Glock of any generation, so yeah, I probably would buy one. But not just because it's a Gen 5. If I needed one, I would, but I don't need a new gun for anytime in the foreseeable future.

Over several years in the 90s I tried a 1st generation Model 19 and two 26s ..... decided I didn't like them as well as my 3rd Gen Smiths....... 3913/14s, 6906/04s and 915s .........didn't really "like" the striker fired concept for my concealed carry needs .....
that said Glocks work......but not for me.............
so...... sold or traded off...........

If Glock can do the following I will purchase:
-Delete finger grooves
-go back to a single recoil spring compatible with older generations
-quit adding unneeded junk
Gen 2 was all a Glock needed to be. They don't need to "update" anything about the Glock

Life is too short to carry an ugly gun. I did carry a Glock the last 2 years I worked the streets and it was very reliable, accurate and ugly. Now retired, I'll stick with S&W revolvers and 1911's.

Not a chance.
Glocks may be reliable and combat accurate, but they are not comfortable in my hand. I know I could "Get used to" the grips angle, but why
When Glock added finger grooves to fit the "Average hand" they lost me forever. My hands are way above average. Yes I know I can grind the finger grooves off the frame.
Why buy something that you have to MAKE work instead of a nice Smith and Wesson, SIG or Colt that works out of the box.

I might.
I do have the 40 that's out on long term loan to my Son.
I might try a single stack smaller 9 mm.

My son in law has the gen 4 19. I have shot it & it's a nice shooting weapon just as their reputation states. I still am unable to purchase a plastic frame gun. I guess I'm old fashioned with revolvers & 1911's.

The test of time and success has proven two undeniable truths. Glock cannot be "killed", and the 1911 will never "die".

Most of the 'Hype' I can find online appears to be rumors and leaks.
Maybe Glock went to a Apple leak seminar.
Nobody runs a leak campaign better than Apple!

My only Glock is the Gen 3 G17 and it runs like a finely tuned watch. No reason to buy any others. Nothing wrong w/them, just don't do it for me.

I have consulted my 8 Ball, "as I see it yes." They come and they go, but I always seem to have a 17 and a 19 in the house.

That's why when I wanted a reliable "wonder 9", I went with the Beretta PX4 compact.
Just as reliable and accurate as a Glock, if not more so, but also leagues above when it comes to sexiness. Was also $150 cheaper.
To each their own though. If the Glock would have been priced better, I may have ended up with one because they are proven tools.

Nope. Don't need one as I have a S&W M&P in 9mm to scratch the "striker gun without a manual safety" itch I never had.

I only have owned one Glock and it was the first gun I ever sold. I kept the Ruger that cost $150 less and I liked much better. So no I will not be buying into the Gen 5. Glocks are good guns but they don't trip my trigger finger so to speak.
I just wonder what a Glock revolver would look like? Can they chisel a revolver out of a block of plastic? That might be why they don't make a revolver.

I buy guns, not hype.
I'll wait and see how the Gen 5 Model 19 feels and shoots.
If it fits my hand better and shoots better than my Gen 4 Model 19 then I'll probably get one.

I'm 4 generations behind already. Rather have another Smith revolver than a sack of Glocks. Nothing against them, just like the other brand.

I've had a bunch of them over the years, but as of today I've got one, my trusted G26 gen 3. I'm in no hurry but I will take a look at the gen 5 26. I've been wanting but keep putting off buying a G41. If the gen 5 has no finger bumps that could make me want one. Never should of sold the gen 1 17 I had.

I had a Gen 3 Glock 23. I liked it ok. I think I would've preferred the 19. I like the fact that the Gen 5 doesn't have finger grooves, but fortunately for me the finger grooves on the compact Glocks fit my hand fairly well, and Talon Grips fill in the space and makes them even shallower, which I liked. Full-size Glocks? Not so much.
I'm not too crazy about the ambi slide release, though. I recall reading an article about a PD, in Indiana, I think, that was having issues with their Gen 5 guns that were thought to be related to the ambi slide release. I don't know if that was ever confirmed or corrected, though...it just didn't matter enough for me to stay on top of the issue. That's aside from any holster-compatibility issues.
While I could see myself getting a Glock 19, I think I'd probably be more likely to just get a Gen 3, or a Gen 2 if I could find one. My preference would still be some kind of hammer-fired DA gun like a Sig P-series. Though the Beretta PX4 is on my radar, too, especially the Langdon-inspired Compact Carry version.

What? The four they have aren't good enough?
Anyhow, If the finger grooves are gone I will be very tempted to add another 19 to the stable.
But, I'll probably give them some time to work the bugs out of their latest "perfection" first.

I have lots of 1911's but also own a G23c 3rd gen. One thing for sure I can say is "it always goes bang when I pull the trigger" never a FTF of any kind. It's a keeper and honestly don't see any reason for future model (especially the way 40 cal popularity is going south).

I have made it through life so far without one, I don't see a need to start now. I had the opportunity to fire a 17L back in the early '90s, I didn't like the feel. Personally, I am not fond of the firing mechanism, I am more comfortable with either SA or DA/SA, with firing pins. I grew up shooting a 1911, and got a 439 for steel plates back in the late '90s. For some, the Glock may be the next best thing to sliced bread, but not for me. I doubt that I could get comfortable enough with the Glock to carry one for SD, so my only use would be a once a year GSSF match. I have better uses for limited funds.

I have never been interested in Glocks. Don't see that changing.

Didn't buy the hype on any of the other gens. Don't see any reason to start now.

I've had a gen3 34 and in gen4 a 17 and a few 19's with one 19 remaining. I've liked them all just fine and they've all worked flawlessly so I wouldn't have a problem with adding a gen5 if I feel I need another Glock.

I've carried Glocks on and off duty since 1991 and have the utmost respect for them. Although they are not as pretty as my Colt 1911's or S&W revolvers, 39's and 59's, they are by far the most reliable combat gun I have ever used.
