New mouse guns go to the range
I've had these for a little while, but haven't had a chance to shoot them until the other day. The Beretta Tomcat is chambered in .32ACP, and has the tip-up barrel - so you don't have to manipulate the slide. This is great for those of us with poor hand strength. I got this for my daughter, and hopefully, she'll get her LTC, and I'll gift it to her.
The NAA Blackwidow is chambered in .22 Magnum, and of course, is SA only. I offered it to my daughter, but I think she was intimidated by all of the manual manipulation that is needed to load, fire, safe and unload the piece. Its pretty loud, and the grips are comfortable. Because of my continuing back and hip problems, I need to off load weight, and this may become my back-up to my Model 638-1.
I ran a box of 50 rounds through the Blackwidow without any problems. I need to run a couple of more boxes through the Beretta before I'm comfortable handing it off to my daughter.
Regards,
Dave

I bought a Tomcat brand new when they first came out. I think I shot about 400 rounds through it and then the frame cracked on the right side where I think the barrel release pin or the take down lever goes through. That seems to be a weak point on this model. Beretta replaced this model in their lineup with the slightly bigger and stronger Tomcat Inox version.
Just something to be aware of.

Thank you for the heads up. It may be hard to see in my photo, but my Beretta is the Inox (stainless steel) version. I shot a box of standard velocity ball ammo out of it. My guess is that will be the only ammo fired out of it by me or mine.
Regards,
Dave

I have back and hip problems that make reducing weight a must. That said my EDC is either the 340PD or when deep concealment is needed, the LCP.

Dave,
Thanks for clearing that up. It was hard for me to tell that it was the Inox version. I had a fun time shooting my Tomcat, while I had it.....

Good looking pair of handguns - I have the same Tomcat and sortof the same NAA. Mine has the shortest barrel - I think inch and a quarter. I have some new-production .22WRF (CCI) and I tried it a couple of weeks ago in the NAA. It wasn't mild but it wasn't as nasty as I've heard .22Mag is. All of the bullets key-holed at 5-yd so it isn't target ammo!! Also - and you prolly already know this - Winchester has released a reduced-velocity version of the .22Mag. Midway has it in stock occasionally.

Dave,
A word of caution about the Tomcat. I had one and found that a failure to fire
could not be cleared by racking the slide. There is no extractor to clear the round from the pistol.
No problem removing the dud round with the tip-up bbl. but it is a process
that is to slow for a carry pistol, at least IMO, YMMV.
