LGS scores today!
My favorite LGS yielded four guns this afternoon!!
I bought a S&W .32DA (See my thread in the "Antiques" section) & these two single shot 12ga. shotguns. One is marked as Fulton Co. which is actually made by W. H. Davenport. It locks tight and has good wood. Sticker was $79.95. Got it for $69.
The second is marked as a Davenport gun. This old girl has a broken stock that has been repaired with nails and a metal band. I'll wager good American money that this one put meat on the the table through hard times!!
It is still functional. The price was $499. I couldn't resist.
Oh..... that was a typo. The decimal needs moving.
$4.99!! We haggled to $4.98.
Best,
Charles
P.S.,
The 4th gun? I put a 6" Model 14 no dash from '59 on layaway @$375.

A little online research revealed that both of these shotguns were made sometime between 1890-1910.

While you did well on the two shotguns, the model 14 is the one I would have swept up as well - immediately and definitely!

Back in 1970, I was at a North-South Skirmish and saw the receiver of a shotgun sticking out of a barrel. It was a double barrel 12 gauge Knickenbocker. It had 30" barrels and the forearm, but no buttstock. The tag hanging from the receiver said $2.98. I dug out $3 and went off with my prize.
I got back home and glued two pine boards together and carved out what vaguely resembled a buttstock. This was a sidelock hammerless and the inletting was not the best.
I carried it hunting and on one trip, having seen no squirrels or rabbits, I decided to blast a hanging pine cone. Oh, I blasted it GOOD, because the old gun doubled! OWW! I wemt home and took the action apart. The sears were worn out. After that, I only loaded one barrel at a time.
I later gave the gun to a friend whose daddy also had a Knickenbocker. His daddy wanted to restore his and it needed some parts.
My $2.98 was probably more than Charles' $4.98 is worth today.
