Help with an old gun ID

My father has a gun that is a cap and ball revolver made by W.A. Beckwith London. I cannot find a date on the gun. What Google has provided me is that the revolver is a transitional pepperbox. The hammer is on top of the pistol. The nipples are 90 degrees from the direction of the barrel.

I am finding that this type of pistol is made in the 1850s +/-. Anyone heard of W.A. Beckwith and what pistol book can I get to get a better idea of what he has. I will need to get pictures to help but, mainly want to find out about the manufacturer.

No, it is a 6 shot ball and cap revolver. the hammer is strangely on the top of the revolver. It is a DAO pistol and they are calling the type of pistol a "Transitional Pepperbox." I am mainly trying to find out about the maker, W.A. Beckwith.

W. A. Beckwith held a patent for a "waterproof" action (see here Dixie Gun Works muzzleloading, blackpowder and rare antique gun supplies. ) and produced many fine examples of percussion fire arms, including rifles, shotguns, revolvers (I've seen at least one Tranter Patent) dueling pistols and pepperboxes.

They are sometimes quite pricey. If for sale, I would suggest an Arms auction site.
