Default Refinish or Restore ?

Of the many old guns I've restored, modified, refinished, etc., all were seriously distressed by bubba or time before I got it--

I figure a gun that's all there & functional, been doing its job, deserves to keep doing it as/is ----->

No benefit in trying to pretty up that one.

Yeah, don't mess with it more than oil & standard cleaning after shooting. But, forgive my ignorance, but was that blue that wore off or something else? And how old is it? Seems to have held up well over time. I know with my poor smithing skills it would never work again if I got near it with anything besides ammo! I'll stick to my RHVAC repair! (That sure would look pretty chromed & shiny; but again, why mess with it?) Jeff T., PGH PA

Default IT'S YOURS.

I'd put that one in the, if guns could speak category & leave it as is. I wonder how the wear became so even? Might someone have tried to do something before, or could it have become that way by itself?

That's a well earned patina. No way I'd ruin it by refinishing.

You know, anything can be kept plan and mundane.
How about turning that beauty into a Nickel plated Mo-Fo?

Sorry everyone one for the ......Artistic Licenses

Lets go for a good ol' Mexican Nickel Finish and see it shine in the Desert sun....... Like here in Yuma!!!!!

I thought about doing something with this model 1899 but in the end I left it as is. It shoots good so I'm happy.

Refinish or restore is a good way to make a $300 gun out of a $1000 gun.

My opinion seems to go with the majority: I would do nothing more than a good cleaning and preservation. But, she is yours to do with as you see fit.....
