Value 1984 sig 229 9mm
I have a fella that wants to trade me a 1984 p229 with 1 mag and original box. Would the 229 be a German made model if it was made in '84? What would it be worth?

I could be wrong, but that looks like a German P226. If it does date to 84 then it would be W. German and it wouldn't be a P229. This should help you determine what you are looking at: Is my "Made in Germany" (or West Germany) SIG Really German? - Real Gun Reviews
Check for proof marks and see what is says on the side of the slide. If it is a W. German P226 then I would put the value at $500 to $700 depending on the condition. The W. German P226 is a nice pistol. I like mine a lot.

That's not a 229.....Maybe a 226.....Not a 228 either, barrel too long....I believe back then the 229 was only chambered in 40 S&W.........

Looks like a 226 to me also. In 1984 it was made in and would be stamped West Germany. I have a West German P6 and P220. They are great pistols. If the condition is good, at $700, you wouldn't get hurt, but a $600 offer wouldn't be out of line. Good luck.

Definitely a 226. The 229 didn't come out until somewhere around 1992 ish.
Value wise, if it's really clean and there isn't any significant wear on the frame rails I'd be comfortable valuing it somewhere around $600.

Thank you gentleman. I appreciate the help. You are correct, I slipped up on the typing. It is a 226.
